And, just to prove that I *can* post something besides "SQUEEEE" and "WHEEEE" and other things ending in "EEEEE!" today, here's a bit of Lost-related thinky-stuff.
This is for those of us who are STILL HERE, after everything
Lost has put us through. [If you've moved on but still read my journal anyway, *great big smooches*, but you can skip this bit o' spam.] I just read an article in
eponine119's journal that compares
Lost to an abusive boyfriend. It's
here. Is there anybody left who hasn't been disappointed, hurt, or just plain pissed-off by
Lost at least once? If you're like me, though (I've been all of the above at one time or another), you just
keep coming back. I think that's intriguing (and happy-making, because, like I said, it means we're still HERE!). *simultaneously dances with you and clings to you*
So, even if
Lost isn't the show you expected it to be (which is the lament I hear most often, and totally agree with), or if they've messed with your favorite characters to the point where you've screamed and thrown things (me, too!), or you're so sick of dropped plots and ENDLESS FUCKING QUESTIONS (I could launch into a meta here about how those are nirvana for a fanfic writer -- if they drop or lose sight of the ball, that just means we get to pick it up and run with it! but I'll save that for later), why do we still come back for more?
For me, it's because I have to know what happens to these characters. I HAVE to. Sometimes I wonder if it's a trainwreck mentality -- even if I *know* they're gonna meet a bitter fate, I still have to sit right there with them, like I can hold their hand or something. But really, I think it's just that I care about most of them more than I do anybody else on TV (and most people in RL!).
So, tell me,
Lost fandom (without harshing my buzz, please -- I'm in my Happy Place today, remember!), why are YOU still here?
and I hope you never leave! ♥
