Happy Turkey Day!
Jul. 14th, 2010 07:16 pmYou don't know why it's Turkey Day? Well, I'll tell you. I was driving along and I saw this creature start to waddle across the oncoming lane of the road. It looked like some kind of strange bird so I thought it'd fly away when it saw my car. I realized at the last instant that it wouldnt't! Luckily I was just leaving the Air Force Base so I was going really slow (because the speed limit at the guarded entrance and exit gates is 15) so I was able to stop. I finally recognized her as a turkey, and she waddled obliviously right in front of me. Then before I could start moving again I saw another one doing the same thing, only this one was little. It kinda flopped its wings like it was trying to fly to catch up with Mama. Then three or four more of them came along in a line, all run-waddling to catch up. I think the babies realized that Mom was on crack and not looking where she was going, and they were supposed to follow her into disaster and they didn't know what to do. I WAS A HERO BECAUSE I STOPPED. But I didn't know that turkeys were like ducks, and the babies follow their mama in a straight line. It was adorable.

Remember back in the olden days when we used to call our stupid brother or nerdy classmate a "turkey"? I think it was an appropriate word, and I'm gonna start using it again. So if I ever call you a dumbass turkey (not that I ever would!), you'll know why. ;)
