...now my mantra is "my journal, my words, my business so stfu if you don't like it," or something along those lines. Not meaning to be rude of course. *adjust hoop skirt and bats Southern Belle eyelashes* But I've given myself permission to be self-indulgent in my own journal. Yes, so. That writing meme's going around again and this time I'm gonna do it. Gakked from
hollycomb.
1. What was the first fic you ever wrote? (picture you drew, manip/vid you made - sub in your form of expression for all questions).
It was a Lost Jack/Sawyer series, surprise! ;) I wrote it the summer after S1, y'know, that summer when Sawyer was drowning and gunshot and we all wrote a million zillion katrillion Jack-saving-Sawyer fics. Yeah, that's the plain ol' ordinary way I got my start. Still, I'm fond of it 'cause it's the first: Shooting Stars, Saving Souls, This Way Lies Madness. Oh, and I'm clairvoyant like Desmond; I totally knew Charlie was the junior swim champion in Northern England, instead of some "I can't swim" wussie! ;)
2. What's your most recent work?
Uh, well, it wasn't work it was play, but it's Luau fic, Chapter 4, the fourth chapter of my '08 summer project book, "The Broken and the Holy." And BTW, I wanna talk about that title, while we're here, just because I'm about to bust a gut to say that it's NOT from "Hallelujah," it's just something that I think *should* be in it. (Bono put it there when U2 covered it, so it must be right.)
3. What do you think you're best at (genre, style, theme)?
Internal conflict and dialog. Or dialogue. One of 'em, anyway.
4. What would you like to be better at?
I *could* be better at everything, way better. Mainly I'd like to be more prolific and less procrastinistic. And stop making up my own vocabulary.
5. Which of your works do you think best represents you as a writer/artist?
Yikes, that sounds kinda hoity, but okay, erm. Deeper Into Black, Deeper Into White. There's a lot of my home and my heart in that book.
6. What's your favourite story you've ever written (picture you've ever drawn etc)?
Again, Deeper. ^^^
7. What's your favourite scene/chapter you've ever written?
Bwahaha, Jack-as-Santa-Claus, cause I'm a total schmoop like that. Chapter 13 of "Deeper".
8. What's your favourite passage or line you've ever written?
I have NO idea! But since I don't have a good answer, wanna know which one cracked me up the most? Um, proceed at your own risk. Romance, Sawyer Style.
9. Have you ever written/drawn something that you found really upsetting, that you almost couldn't bring yourself to write/draw?
It was a drabble, and it wouldn't have happened except that I'd been NaNo'ing for hours (days!) and all the writing floodgates were down. It's just an image and internal dialog from Sawyer on the brink of death, Be Buried in the Rain.
10. Which (if any) of your works represents a departure from your usual style, you taking a risk and trying something new? Do you think it worked?
Wild. I wrote it backward and yet somehow, it worked.
11. Who's your favourite character to write/draw? Who do you think you write/draw best?
Jack, and Jack, tho he isn't *quite* my favorite character. I like to play with Jack, and then make Jack play with Sawyer. ;)
12. Name five things that typically characterize your work.
1. Lots of sentences start with conjunctions, and if I like the music it makes in my head, lots of run-on sentences, too.
2. Jack is usually, if not always, clueless about something. (See today's fic post, lol.)
3. Jack and/or Sawyer are (almost) always in it. Oh, and it's Lost-fic. So far that's all I write.
4. I fret and procrastinate and drag my feet about posting. I'm working on that.
5. There's always a happy ending. Tho I like to make people cry, first. ;)
13. List the projects you're working on right now or have coming up in the near future.
OMG, my WIP file is ginormous!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! 132 unfinished fics and counting. So what am I doing here? *smites lazy self*
14. How do you think your writing/art has changed since you first started (in the fandom specifically, for those of you who do this for a living too)?
Whaaaaaaaa, I wanna be one of those who does this for a living. But I digress. I don't think I've changed much, is that bad? I'm less wordy than I was in the first series, but I still mostly write Jack/Sawyer, I use the summer luau to stretch a bit and write other characters/pairings, I still have the same awesome beta, I still love schmoop and drama and angst...if I've changed, I haven't noticed it.
15. Describe yourself as a writer/artist in five words or less.
Angsty silly fretful Jack/Sawyer lover. (was that cheating?)
16. Links to any archives or websites where you have your work.
I'm a one-stop shop; all my fics are on LJ alone. "Deeper" has its own comm,
smoky_verse.
