I'm on a stupid streak. First, last night I was having fun writing luau fic in the tone of a B-grade slasher film (uh, that'd be "slasher" in the original sense, heh) with Kate as the crazy heroine who *always* goes into the scary room alone when you tell her not to (gasp!). It was fun. So, at bedtime I thought I was clever, and I saved it all to my Word clipboard just in case anything happened to it during the night. Something did; the monitor wouldn't go to sleep so I closed all the open programs, knowing that my fic was still safely on the clipboard. Somehow thru the night the computer got turned off, though, and when I re-opened Word and tried to re-instate the document from the clipboard, nothing was there. Is my fic lost forever?

I'm trying something new with my icons. A few weeks ago a couple of you helped me decide which ones were "safe" from being rotated out, and it works out to roughly half. To free up more usable space, I've decided to sort them into categories, like, "FNL," or Seasons and only use a certain number of icons in each group. Anybody want to help me think of catetories? So far I've got: writing, "FNL", other tv shows, movies, books, theater, songs and bands, seasons, travel, events, and other Lost actors who aren't Josh or Foxy, hee. [other possibles are sports, moods, fashion....what am I leaving out?]

that stinks that you lost it, and i'm not sure how you could recover it. A tip that has always worked for me is e-mailing the story to myself..that way even if my computer gets funky it will be in my aol account. goodluck recovering it-sounds so cute,,i mean scary ;0)

The clipboard is just temporary, usually, unless you're doing something wacky I don't know about. I usually only see the "recover document" thing if I crash Word. You can try crashing Word to see if it gets it back, but probably not. (Why didn't you save it as a file?)

Another thing you can try that used to work but I don't know if it does anymore, is if you go to the Start menu on the computer, click Search, then look for all the files created within the last day, and see if MS Word autosaved it.

Word usually auto-saves me something if it crashes down but I wouldn't know in this case, also because my Word can get idiot at times. But I'm not really much help in that regard.

While on icons, if there's a show I usually put the name of the show first so that at least I find it sooner, if it isn't it depends. But since 85% is Lost I figure I never have much trouble with those ;)

I email myself stuff too, and I religiously save my documents because Word did crash on me too often in my life.. oh and when I work on 2 computer or with someone, I use google docs, it's nifty.

also I suggest you go check out this link, maybe they saved it in a temporary form, somewhere.

How to recover a lost file in Word 2000

maybe it's too late and you re-wrote everything by now, but good luck!
