Remember a few days ago when I asked for a Big Ol' Post o'Recs? I'd been noticing that there are newer authors in the Lost community as well as plenty who've been here a while, and we weren't all aware of one anothers' fics. With all the treasure out there just waiting to be discovered, that just wouldn't do. So I asked every writer in the Lost LJ community who was willing to participate to give me a list of her 5 favorite fics. The catch was, it could only be her OWN fics, not her BFF's or That Smutty Writer She Secretly Adores. It was an eye-opener to see which writers were too demure to give me five, while others were so exuberant that they wanted to list 'em all! ♥ for both kinds! I was also stunned and amazed to see how many of us Lost fic writers there are! Now that I know they're there I will definitely be checking out their work, because who would want to miss out on such a gift? Bookmark this page if you'd like to have a collection of 100+ stories that sprang right from the authors' hearts. Let's all indulge in the bounty!

On a technical note: I suck at coding, and this post is being brought to you thanks to [livejournal.com profile] eponine119's generous heart. I couldn't have done it without you, sweetie!

Prima Ballerina ...anyway, my favourite is still my first one, which is Mattew Fox and Josh Holloway in Milan. I guess the 'write what you know' is always a good advice.
Poker Night I'm pretty proud also of my Lost/House crossover, even if it lacks something, probably a touch of tension, and the pacing is too slow, but I am happy that I was brave enough to post such a long fic, with complex characters that I had never written before.
Water Forms Getting to the ficlets/drabbles, my favourite one is Water forms, I like the imagery in this.
Dark Secret was fun to write.

  • [livejournal.com profile] alixzin
The Friendship of Prufrock (Daniel, Charlie) While teaching at Oxford Daniel develops a unlikely friendship with one of his students.
Little Brother (Charlie, Penny) Based upon pacejunkie's wonderful fic To the Ends of the Earth. So basically this is an AU of an AU. Rather insane in premise, but my personal favorite.
The Pain of Existence (Desmond, Charlie) Set during the season four finale. While in between places during his near drowning experience Desmond encounters the one person he can't stop thinking about.

Deeper into Black, Deeper into White This one came from outside of me, I'm convinced. It came from the spirit of the mountains I love, and because of that I was somehow able to write a chapter a day for Nano(even though I'm the slowest writer on the planet!).
Wild, Caged, Free because it was a challenge; "Wild" was written in such a different style, and "Free" had this big ol' plot...and then came smut. ;)
Visibility Okay, it's sailboat porn, lol. But it was so much fun to write.
Invictus is the most hardcore thing I've written, but it's one of those that just wrote itself and I love it when that happens.
Be Buried in the Rain This one is a drabble. It's another one that wrote itself, and nearly two years later it inspired the series I'm working on now, Prisms & Echoes, part 1, part 2, part 3, part 4.

The Secret's In the Telling This was my first fic in the Lost fandom. It's Sawyer/Kate (with a little Jack/Kate). I really feel like this is my best work, despite it being first.
Five People Charlie Pace Visits While Dead (And One Who Comes to Him) It's one of those five things oneshots where I attempted to explain why Charlie was DBAH. And it was my first attempt at anything not Kate centric.
Those Star-Crossed Lovers Had Nothing on Us A Sawyer/Juliet oneshot about what happens during the three years Jack and Kate are gone. It has a bittersweet ending.
We'll Build Sonnets in Pretty Rooms Aaron/Ji Yeon. Future fic about how the island pulls strings even after their parents left the island.

  • [livejournal.com profile] aurorawest
Father-Daughter Relationship (Ben, Alex) When I wrote this I put myself in my adolescent mindset. I like to think that I captured the casual cruelty that teenagers can inflict upon those closest to them.
Physics (Dan, Charlotte, Miles, Naomi, Frank; Dan/Charlotte) Though I have used physics imagery in many subsequent fics, this is the first I did it in, and I've always liked how it turned out.
Last Day of Magic (where are you?) (Dan/Charlotte) Future-fic -- I wanted to write something different and to really try to convey Charlotte's broken perception of her own life. This may be my favourite thing I've ever written.

Already Gone Away Kate & Sam. she thinks: this would be easier with him by my side. wrong, that. she knew before knowing he wouldn't be there. doesn't it hurt all the same? [This one is probably my favorite of all the fics I've written so far.]
Butterflies Like Chains Kate/Aaron. because it got her the perfect little boy who calls her mommy and paints her pictures that make her want to cry and crawl back into that dark place and spin another tale and become someone else. [The Aaron storyline kills me every time.]
Gold Stars for Good Behaviour Kate/Hurley. he loves Aaron, and she loves them both and sometimes she can even pretend that’s enough. [I love that this can seem so out of the blue and yet it makes sense in a lonely and self-destructive kind of way.]
Remember That I'll Never Forget Jack/Juliet, a very liberal interpretation of tattoos, and of NC-17 too. This night, this thing that’s happening between them, it’s got the makings of one of those memories you try to bury in the back of your head, even though you know all along that it just won’t work that way and that something, anything, will manage to dig it up. [I love this one because it's the first one I wrote and because it's a good way to say goodbye.]
Patterns in Black and WhiteKate/Juliet. She opens her mouth, after what feels like a million years, and before she can form the first word of a string of painful truths, Juliet smiles. [What's not to love about Kate/Juliet???]

Valentine's Day A Season 1 ensemble fic, gen for the most part, from Hurley's POV. A feel good story, I guess you'd say. PG-13.
In My Secret Heart This one didn't get a whole lot of response, but I liked it. From Sun's POV, post-Jin. PG-13
Moo-Goo-Gai-Pan and Tears Perhaps the oddest title in Lost fic history, but this is one of my very favorites. Frank/Daniel, set after the island. I don't know which of them is more of a mess in this. lol PG-13
Waiting Short fic, basically just Juliet and Charlotte sharing a moment. PG
A Marriage of Convenience I made fun of this one earlier, but have to admit that next to Moo-Goo, it's probably my favorite. Complete and utter crack, involving Desmond, Penny, Daniel, Charlotte and combinations thereof. R

Drowning Your Sorrows By Land or By Sea (Jack, Penny, Kate, Hurley, Sayid, with Jack/Penny and Desmond/Penny) – This four part series written in February 2008 explores the O6’s escape, lies, and the tragic event they think happened before they left. I was way off in my theories, but I remain proud of my plot and how I pulled off the Jack/Penny pairing.
Guishin (Ensemble) - Four years later the ghosts still linger. This was my Sixth Sense inspired story written for the Halloween Challenge in October 2007.
Our Lady of the Lost and Found (Margo Shephard, Carmen Reyes) – A story from November 2007 about the kinship that comes from losing their sons.
You'll Find Them Halfway Between an Inhale and an Exhale (Desmond/Penny, Daniel) – This April 2008 fic addresses Desmond and Penny’s relationship woes before he disappeared and her anxiety about what they’ll have left once she finds him.
Barren in the Promised Land (Juliet, Ben, Goodwin, Danielle, Claire, Jack, Sawyer) – A three part exploration of Juliet’s years on the island before and after the crash of Flight 815.

One of Our Own (Locke, Charlie, Sawyer, Jack, Hurley and Sayid) Angsty Gen fic. After Locke witnesses Charlie’s attack on Sun, the camp leaders must decide what is to be done about him.
Only the Good Die Young (Rose, Charlie, ensemble) Lament fic. Rose reflects on her three month friendship with Charlie.
Beware of the Fangirl (Damon, crazed fangirl) Crack!fic inspired by Stephen Kings 'Misery'. Damon Lindelof has been kidnapped by a crazy fangirl who is furious with him for killing off her favourite character. Written for the Halloween Challenge.
The Belly of a Whale (Bonnie/Greta, Charlie) Femmeslash/threesome fic. Bonnie chooses not to tell Ben about Charlie's intrusion of the Looking Glass station. Over the following weeks Bonnie and Greta hold him prisoner and Charlie is slowly drawn into their intense relationship.
Sharing the Night (Desmond, Charlie) Bromance fic. Desmond and Charlie are both restless with fear and despair. They decide to spend the night together.

Truths in the Skies (Jack/Sawyer. R) There is the scar over his heart, which he calls the sun. - I love moody internal dialog, I can't help myself. Summary: Jack thinks with his body and his heart about him and Sawyer.
A New Word for Stranger (Sayid, gen) It came to him during a quiet night, the dream that scared him more than any of his nightmares. - Again with the wordiness about words and introspection. Summary: Isolated by language, beyond what words can express, Sayid is all alone in the island.
Natural Elements (Sawyer/Sayid. NC-17) He's got him on his back, legs spread wide open and Sawyer looks more himself than Sayid has ever seen him. The official summary says: "They meet at night and, for once, nothing is fast or harsh. Everything is slow and open: natural", but it's just a wordy, moody PWP of sorts.
Normal at Bedtime (J/S. R) This is what normal people do when they go to bed, Jack tells himself, he knows it by experience. Summary: With Sawyer by his side, Jack thinks about the real meaning of normal.
Midnight Man Sawyer. gen) It’s late at night. The noises of the city rumble and purr on the streets and Sawyer is wide awake, his heart beating hard with anxiety and need. Summary: Sawyer waits for his turn to attack, a lonely predator in a cold, winter night.
Isolation official runner up, which I love because it's second person POV, among other reasons.

  • [livejournal.com profile] gottalovev
Up and Away My baseball AU, it's pretty simple. I love baseball. So I made my own baseball team. Jack is a veteran catcher, Sawyer a hotshot relief pitcher. Both are very gay. Christian is head coach, Hurley the owner, etc. Jack, Sawyer, Christian, slight mention of Jack/Sawyer, about 1400 words, PG-13
Making the Rounds Charlie, no pairing, 350 words, rated G (post S3 finale)
That's What Friends Are For (or how Sawyer took the moral high road) Jack/Sawyer, Charlie, 7241 words, NC-17 (Jack gets drunk and Sawyer tries to take the keys of the car away from him)
It Ain't Easy Being Green Jack/Sawyer, 3100 words, PG-13 (Jack is turned into a frog and has to convince Sawyer to kiss him, not squish him)
    Morning Jack/Sawyer, 100 words, rated PG-13

At the Setting of the Sun Originally written for a 'Lustful Looks' challenge over at [livejournal.com profile] adventures_in. Rating PG. Sawyer/Jack. Futurefic. It's getting late and while nothing lasts forever, some things never change.
Before Spoilers for beginning of S2, incest fantasies. Rating 18+ for descriptions and themes. Consensual Des/Jack. How well does Desmond really know Jack?
Promises Requested by [livejournal.com profile] slippery_fish for [livejournal.com profile] slashfest Round V: "Jack takes care of Ben like he promised and gets used to living with the Others." Rating PG for content, 18+ for themes. Non graphic. Mild spoileryness up to ‘Man from Tallahassee’ (3x13)
Restraint An alternative opening to S3, inspired by Ben’s line in The Cost of Living “We had such a plan to break you.” Jack centric. IT IS VERY DARK. There is a major non-con element. Rating 18+. Please heed this warning and avoid if such things offend.
Saying Goodbye Originally requested by [livejournal.com profile] maybedarkpink in [livejournal.com profile] slashfest round IV: “Jack and Sawyer have angry, angsty goodbye sex before the raft sails.” Rating 18+: Graphic descriptions, but consensual. Inspired by Exodus 1x23. These men don’t know how to say goodbye, but neither wants to leave things unfinished...

String Them Along Suggestion of Sawyer/Sayid, PG-13. Hurley starts up his own sex-line, pretending to be Sawyer. This was a slightly crack-ish fic that I thought worked better than many of my other lame attempts in the genre.
The Cabana Club RPS, Josh/Matt/Dom/Naveen, R to NC-17. A boys' club gets a new member. Just a little fun and games with full approval of the wives and girlfriends.
These Small Hours A drabble I wrote for [livejournal.com profile] elise_509, J/S, R. I just liked how this one seemed to work for me - drabbles are not usually my thing, but I was proud of this.
Moondance Sawyer/Sayid, NC-17. I wrote this one for a Hallowe'en challenge with a connection to a movie (my movie was An American Werewolf in London), and I put a lot of thought into it. I think it worked really well.
Never Was Sawyer/Sayid again, NC-17 eventually. This is one of my luau fics for this year, and one I'm really proud of, as it turned out so much better than I expected, from such a simple idea about postcards with no words on them.

A Dull, Aching Pain (Jack/Sawyer). If pressed, this is the fic of mine that I am the most proud of. It wasn't exactly easy to write, because the subject was incredibly personal to me, but I'm proud of it, and the way it turned out in the end.
Gone Tomorrow (Jack/Kate) My Jate Epic. I felt like, for the first time, I created an atmosphere in this one. I'm usually character-centric, and while there is that element in this, it has the most plot of anything I've written, and I think it came out very well.
Cold Comfort (Jack/Juliet) This is set on the day Jack move in to Otherville. There's an incredible amount of tension between them, and there are details in here that I really liked upon re-reading. It's kind of a Jack character piece too, examining what he must have been going through at that moment. It might be my favorite of my Jack/Juliet pieces.
Pray God You Can Cope (Jack/Sun) Jack and Sun watched Boone die together. They tried to save him and they failed. This fic is about them trying to come to terms with that together.
Regrets (Sun, Charlie) This is a drabble that I've always loved that pretty much no one read. Sun thinks about Charlie after she learns he has died.

  • [livejournal.com profile] janie_tangerine
I Ain't Got No Home I think this is my finest piece of writing of all the Lost I wrote. It's an AU where Sawyer is a rambing musician during the Depression and encounters more or less all the others and I remember just being inspired, writing it in three hours and realizing I had gone epic, but it's the one I'm really most satisfied with.
In My Time of Dying this was my take on Do No Harm, which meant writing Boone's POV in it. It was one of the hardest things I ever did but I'm really proud of it.
Make Your Own Kind of Music well, that was me rambling about Desmond liking Mozart and going introspective on the guy. And I really do have fond memories of writing it.
Soothe the Burn So I do have a OTP after all, it's Jack/Boone and this one is my favorite of the ones I wrote.
Craphole Island's Very First Open Shirt Seminar thing is, I love crack. And while this might not be my objective best crack, it's the one I had most fun with. It's Desmond teaching the other males except Sawyer how to wear a shirt and well, since Desmond's shirt is my favorite crack subject and it features my second OTP, I went with this one.

  • [livejournal.com profile] jenthegypsy
Writing Room The second in the [livejournal.com profile] writing_room verse, and still a favorite. Caution: it's pretty silly! J/S.
Hidden Talents Another in a long line of humorous J/S on island fic. I think it's my absolute favorite for characterization of not only Jack and Sawyer, but a host of other Losties as well.
Nothing Ventured, Nothing Gained My very first venture into slash. Soft core with lots of smoke and mirrors, but still... I like some of the phrasing very much.
I'll Be Home for Christmas The only J/S angst fic that I've done and it still breaks my heart. Multiple hankie warning.
Letting Go, part 1, part 2 Part 2 is my first and only, real, honest-to-God smut of any sort. I'm still happy with the way I wrote the characters and the dialog, even if I don't particularly care for one of them any more. Worth the read, I think, even if you don't like het or Kate, cause, you know, there's still some pretty good imagery in there and I think the rhythm of both pieces is compelling.

  • [livejournal.com profile] lenina20
It Ends Tonight Written post Season3 Finale, this fic is a long series dealing with Kate's new life outside the island, alone, in danger and pregnant. It took months and I wrote it when I was very new to the fandom, and yet it deals with Kate facing motherhood in a realistic way, as well as her relationship with Sawyer, Jack and especially Claire. Which doesn't make much sense, but well. It was a pleasure and a pain and though it's not perfect, it means the world to me. And it's better than Eggtown.. A lot better.
You Do Not Do This is a very short Kate character study that I wrote inspired and based upon Sylvia Plath's Daddy. I like the style and I especially like what it says about Kate and how it says it. I think it's simple and very original at the same time.
Interlude This is the BEST Kate/Sawyer fic I've written. It's AU, pre-island, but it keeps their storylines and the Cassidy!Connection. I like the writing, the dialogue, the structure, the plot and the characterization. I think it might be my favorite fic of all I've written.
Natives Future fic. Established Sawyer/Juliet. But written when no one had written established Sawyer/Juliet before - something that now is not only over-written but also generally asumed as canon. Still worst case scenario for my tastes, but the fic was a pleasure to write and it gave me lots of satisfaction afterwards. I feel strangely proud of it, though I didn't like it much upon re-reading.
Only Love Can Make It Rain OT3. R-rated. Sawyer/Juliet/Claire. Apocalyptic, dealing with the motif of fear death by water. And, in my opinion, the best written fic ever by me, in terms of wording, style and imagery.

  • [livejournal.com profile] sapphire_child
Charlie My first proper full length fic, set way back in the dim dark days of season one. Lovely, flangsty Charlie and C/C. This fic definitely has a soft spot in me.
Still Here S1/2 missing CC scene where Charlie stays up all night to watch over Claire and Aaron. Again, nice and flangsty with a sweet ending.
My Baby a strangely prophetic story about Charlie's guitar getting broken and the Lostee's having a funeral in it's honour. This is the fic that spawned the great tradition of naming Charlie's red guitar Ethel =P
Confidence Man - The Time Between, part 1 part 2 meticulously obsessively researched fic involving a whole bunch of missing scenes between Charlie and Claire on the time between him bringing her water on the beach during Confidence Man and the next day when they hang out Claire's washing. Definitely my favourite missing scene fic.
The Man in the Mirror Big jump now to 2007. Easily the most creative use of a prompt I've ever done - I was so stumped with what to do for "Narcissus" on my [livejournal.com profile] 50_darkfics table and then this fic just kind of...well fell out.

  • [livejournal.com profile] sedauny
The Little Things That Make a Relationship Summary: Wherein Bernard expounds upon the secrets of a happy marriage, the eternal question is considered, and Sawyer discovers his ideal mate. The first Lost fic I posted, and I'm still fond of it.
Lost & Found A Chana friendship fic.
Teamwork Summary: Miles returns from the Barracks with unexpected news, and Charlotte re-evaluates her team. Totally AU now, written shortly after Eggtown. This was my first attempt: A. writing the Freighters and B. shifting POV characters within a story, and I'm still pleased with the result.
Protection Also AU now, but only slightly, this one explored Miles' abilities as he, Sawyer, Claire & Aaron journeyed back to the beach. I like the way the ending worked out.
Neighborhood Watch Summary: Rose is keeping an eye on her new neighbors Bernard for the POV character of the first fic on my list and Rose for the last--I didn't quite plan it that way, but it is fitting.

  • [livejournal.com profile] silvestra
The Dog Boy and the Con Man - a Lost/Potter-verse crossover written for a crossover meme at [livejournal.com profile] fandomsecrets. Gen fic with Sirius Black waking up at the Island and meeting Sawyer. Rating: PG for language.
    Unchain Me - A PG13-fic. Jack/Juliet & Kate/Sawyer, some spoilers for the S4 episode The Other Woman.
Getting Away With Murder - A gen fic. Characters: Edward Mars and Kate. G, PG-ish.

  • [livejournal.com profile] slybrunette
Fatal Flaw (Ana/Michael) This was such a weird story to write but it really is one of my favorites -- if only because it's something I never would've written unless prompted; totally out of my comfort zone.
Who I Am Is Who I Am (But Who Am I?) (Libby) I never wrote Libby before this, and I never wrote her again. I love this because it takes a closer look at a rather unexplored character.
Live a Little (Lie) (Jin) Another character I never write (sensing a pattern?). I was really not happy with Ji Yeon as an episode and so I decided to play with that.
Another White Dash (Claire | Claire/Sawyer) The only series-type fic I've done for Lost in about...two years.
Ohana (Ensemble, Claire POV) My favorite fic I've ever done. And it's also I believe how I met one of my favorite people on LJ.

  • [livejournal.com profile] snooks_fic
Can't Get No (Jack/Sawyer) NC-17. Sawyer really hasn’t kissed a guy, and Jack is as wild as those tattoos suggest. Or, Jack seduces Sawyer.
Thousand Eyes Turning Blue (Jack/OMCs) NC-17. Jack tries to cope with Sarah leaving. (Written before canon flashbacks).

Nightmares with various characters reflecting on the nightmares that haunt their sleep.
The Man from Dharma how Ben became the leader of the Others and why he was taken prisoner.
Grace more Others featuring background into the fertility problems and island life pre-815, Ethan and his wife in particular.
Not My Father Walt's troubled relationship with Michael.

Self-preservation Shannon is the opposite of him in every way and Jack thinks that is why he watches her. This fic started as a drabble but grew from 100 words to 283 words.

Sector Fifteen 'verse ‘The human population is: One-Two-Four-Two-Three-Eight. Please remember to locate your breeding partner as soon as possible. The curfew is in one-oh-eight minutes, please be in your sectors by this time.’ AU in which the last of the human race is cowering away in a little bunker. Started off as a one-shot, spread into several one-shots, and I'm now kinda working on an original novel in the 'verse. Definitely close to my heart.
Spider Webs (Arzt/Nikki) Arzt was just determined to impress her. Well, this one's just kinda dorky, about Arzt crushing on Nikki.
Kentro (Sawyer/Sayid) "Jack and Hurley preach about how they gotta stick together in the outside world, how they have to be a team, how difficult things will be and how it'll be easier if they have each other, but words like 'team' and 'together' make Sawyer's skin itch. He turns his back on them and drives in the opposite direction as fast and as far as he can." Written for [livejournal.com profile] zelda_zee. I'd never thought I would have been able to write this pairing, but I'm still proud I managed it (for me Sayid is pretty much impossible to write)
Sorry Slips Away (Ana Lucia/Michael) After everything he did, Michael just can't forget and move on. I kind of adore this pairing. And by 'kind of' I mean REALLY, REALLY, REALLY.)
Debt of Nature (Charlie/Claire, Charlie/Desmond) One touch life; second touch death. Claire's not ready to give up on Charlie. I've written a lot of fics since Charlie has died - either bringing him back, averting his death, having him haunting the heck outta people or living in happy denial. I think this one helped me to come to terms with his death on the show, though.

[livejournal.com profile] exchange_fic Writing this fic solidified my love for Sayid and my love for futurefics & AUs and gave me my Russell Square happy place where I still love to play with my kinky, horny boys. ;) I do plan to write another J/S/Sd chapter someday, I swear. (Jack/Sawyer, Jack/Sayid, Sayid/Sawyer)
Under the Blood Red Flag Barbary Coast AU. New 'verse, new happy place. The Losties as pirates, plundering their way around the Mediterranean in the 1700's. (Desmond/Sayid, Jack/Boone, possibly other pairings in future installments)
You Were As Flowers I think this is my best het fic. I like it because it's very sad but not entirely without hope and it embodies the more spare style I seem to have adopted for O6 fic. (Sun/Sayid)
Pygmalion I think of this more as a gen fic actually, though the pairing has to be listed because it's there in the fic. It certainly isn't slashy in the normal sense. I like this fic because I think it's the most twisted thing I've written. (One-sided Ben/Sayid)
Better to Have Loved and Lost For the last one I'll pick something odd, but I've always had a little soft spot for it. It's from the POV of the boar - the one from Outlaws. Idk why, but I still like that fic. I think it's a little cracked-out, a little sweet and even a little sad. (One-sided Boar/Sawyer)
