Will the explosion bring them back to variations of their reality - with the memories or without?

I have to believe that if the things that happened to them in their pasts really did happen, then *some* part of them would retain those memories, somehow. It just seems like a wrong kind of emptiness for them to lose their memories of each other altogether.
