Enough of this hiatus nonsense

Oh wow, YOU GUYS!!!!!! It's snowing in my journal! THANK YOU for all the snowflakes, and a special ♥ for holycitygirl for the cupcake. *throws arms around Lee* Thank you for all the birthday and holiday wishes. I feel so loved! :D

Last year I didn't show my birthday on LJ. My thinking was, then if nobody said "happy birthday" I wouldn't be disappointed. Silly me! I got an email from ficangel saying, "Hey, didn't you have a birthday?" So this year I put it back on my profile page and y'all said happy birthday and it was the BEST part of my day. Seriously! I spent the day in Jackson at Thing 2's basketball tournament and she got hurt kinda bad -- knocked down with bruised ribs and the wind knocked out of her -- and it's traumatic for a mom to see her "little" girl down on the court, crying, not able to get up, and the coaches from both teams and the sports doctor all rush over to her, and bball etiquette says that parents don't go out unless it becomes obvious that the kid can't get up at all. Thing 2 finally got up and the coaches helped her to the bench, and that's when I went down to comfort her and she waved her hand in my face and said, "Mom, I'll be FINE." Five minutes later she was back in action, shooting 3-pointers. She's a toughie, my girl. Anyhow, after being traumatized on my birthday, it sure helped to come home to all of YOU and your kindness and love.

And one of the very best parts: Hearing from people I haven't heard from in ages! Y'all don't be strangers anymore, 'k? *♥s you like crazy!*

Now that "Keeper of Light and Life" is finally finished, I'm back. When I'm writing a fic I play ostrich on LJ, telling myself that I can't post or read fic until mine is finished, and while the first draft of "Keeper" was a modest 12,000 words in 3 chapters, somehow it morphed into a 25,000 word monster in 4 chapters as I was editing. Whoa! That's the longest thing I've written in, like, forever! It made me remiss in my LJ-ing, though. Now it's done and I can post and read and comment away, and yes, ella_bee, I will start writing the Sisters Glorious Vegas Adventure today! I have a doctor's appointment that'll probably take up the whole afternoon but I'll try to post the first part either tonight or tomorrow. I think it'll be fun, and you guys who're starring in it, GET READY! You're in for some surprises. >:)

Blech, it's totally Monday. Besides the dreaded doctor's appointment, I woke up this morning in a wet bed. No, I don't need diapers. :P I'm very retro -- I sleep in a waterbed, and it sprung a leak. It doesn't LOOK anything like a waterbed, though; it's one of those soft-sided ones that looks just like a regular bed, with a regular...well, green Shaker-style...headboard and footboard. I had a pic of it in a meme once but I can't find it. Anyhow, it's leaking all over the hardwood floor and I haven't got a clue how to fix it. Also it's raining. Water, water everywhere! And you know what rain means in my little town -- the computer goes offline every ten minutes. I DO know what to do about that -- unplug, replug, and restart the damn thing -- but what a pain in the ass. When will my cable company realize that it's the 21st century and upgrade its services? A pox on them, and a great big giant pox on Monday!
