ruminating....
Jun. 9th, 2010 02:00 pmIt's been a long time since I posted when I had nothing to say. I think I'll do that today, since it's all weird anyway, I don't know the date (OH, there it is! ^^^) and my husband, who has been going through a godawful midlife crisis for a couple of years now and I thought he hated me, asked me to go to New Orleans to celebrate our 25th anniversary next week and...well, just general weirdness. Also my surgeon told me yesterday that, based on the results of all the procedures and tests I've had done, he doesn't want to do a hiatal hernia surgery after all. He said there was an easier way, and that was for me to get the Lap Band. Grossly, the hernia surgery wraps part of your esophagus around the top of your stomach so it can't slip through your diaphragm (and cause reflux pneumonia, as mine does). The Lap Band does the same thing; it narrows the esophagus so you don't get the reflux, and it also helps you lose weight, and weight is a big factor in generating acid reflux (and thus, pneumonia in my stupid body). So it's less dangerous and more effective - and I'd love to lose weight! Has anybody had the Lap Band or known anyone who has? Can you tell me about it? Yeah, I'm being a pain in the ass and coming to you for advice again. I should've learned my lesson when nobody responded to this post...gah, I still need advice on that, too. I depend on your wisdom, flist. :)
