Insomnia has struck, therefore I meme.
Well, in the interest of full disclosure, it wasn't insomnia. It was my cats eating my feet through the new comforter I just bought. I'd rather save the comforter than get a good night's sleep, especially when LJ is just sitting here with bated breath waiting to hear from me. LOL! HI, Y'ALL, it's 5:05 a.m. and I've been up for 45 minutes and I am...what's the word? Punchy!
That little green thing down there tells you all about my personality. Why you'd wanna know is beyond me, but I have a bone or two to pick with it. However, because I know that everybody else in the whole wide LJ is up and waiting for me to hit the Save Entry button (couldn't it say something cool like "Hit Me With Your Best Shot, Baby?!), I'll go ahead and post and then edit a couple hundred times before you finish your Cheetos. I mean Cheerios.

and here be the promised edits, now all finished for your breakfastindegestionenjoyment!
Things that make me go "hmmmm":
They share their rich emotional life and their passionate convictions with very few people This is hardly a fair assessment when one has an LJ flist. But I do f-lock a lot so you all can feel elite. (I'm not thru editing I'm just gonna push the Hit Me Baby button a lot, so stay tuned if you're a lunatic and are awake and paying attention to this rubbish.)
Joan of Arc of Sir Galahad BWAHAHAHA! I have nothing further to add.
which is normally the case so that they often have a very successful academic career. This fills me with guilt and self-loathing. Not really. I raised two kids who, despite being omgSPOILED, turned out okay so far, that's not academic but I don't care, it was still useful...wasn't it? *stands up on hind legs and whimpers for validation*
it can occasionally happen that Dreamy Idealists overlook something important *SIGH* And therein lies my quandary as a beta-reader; I get so caught up in the big picture that I forget to nitpick. I can find typos and grammar mistakes like your high school English teacher hopped up on speed, 'cause I'm all anal-retentive that way. But who wants to interrupt the reading of a sweeping, heart-rending story to say, "They didn't actually invent the Ferris Wheel until 1893"? Sometimes I KNOW these obscure facts, but WHO CARES??? Strike me off your beta list if this upsets you. :)
As they are very peace-loving, they tend not to openly show their dissatisfaction or annoyance but to bottle it up. Assertiveness is not one of their strong points; they hate conflicts and competition. Oooooohhhhhh, baby, but don't forget about my redheaded Sagittarius Southern-Scrapper Irish side. I can be a lady. I am, after all, a born-and-bred Southern Belle. But rile me up. C'mon, rile me and see what happens. I double-dog dare ya! ;p
Whoever has them as superior will never have to complain about not being given enough praise. This is true. But I don't have to be "superior," I'll praise ya just about anytime, and as the afore-said redheaded Sagittarius etc., you can bet your sweet bippy I'm telling the truth.
Dreamy Idealists do not fall in love head over heels but when they do fall in love they want this to be a great, eternal love. This Dreamy Idealist has never been head over heels but she is in great eternal love with at least 5 famous men you know, and a lollipop to anybody who can guess all 5! If you've read this far. Which, I can't imagine why....
I think it's funny in my character traits that I am both reserved and friendly, obstinate but willing to make sacrifices, effusive and shy. Either the test is wishy-washy, or *I* am.
Ha ha, look at the subjects that interest me and raise your hand if you're surprised. literature, philosophy, psychology [er, I was a psych major], music, art (museums), writing, drawing/painting, astrology, spiritual things, meditation, handicrafts, writing, voluntary work. DID YOU NOTICE IT SAID WRITING TWICE???!!! That's my excuse for this post being so long.
Oh, they meant fic-writing, you say? *scurries off to see how the muse deals with being slap-happy.*
ETA: OMG, I love computers, they are so full of rubbish, but now I can say punch-drunk in languages! And now you can too! Danish: halvt bedøvet, French: sonné, Deutsch (German): benommen, Greek: ζαβλακωμένος (okay, I can't say that one), Italiano: suonato, Portuguese: estupefato (I LIKE that one; I'm gonna use it from now on), Russian: отупевший от битья, обалдевший (*POUTS* because my Dad spoke Russian and could say that ^^^, but he didn't teach me), Español: aturdido por los golpes, estupefacto (look, just like the Portuguese! And it'll come in handy in getting me in bar fights when I go to Mexico in December!). Chinese and Japanese and Korean are no fun, they're all a bunch of these thingies: 空を打つ.
So okay, now all my international friends can weigh in on how I did. If I messed up, blame Google. If I did good, you can think I'm smart. :) And if I didn't include your language, I WANNA KNOW! 'Cause you just never know when these things might come in handy.

Date: 2008-06-11 12:51 pm (UTC)Ah, personality-type quizzes. Those are always a bit of fun - my results are usually "complete lunatic," but we already knew that. ;)

Date: 2008-06-11 01:32 pm (UTC)You don't watch SPN so it's not one of them... I assume it is someone else I don't know. (but, see, I've read till the end!)
And yes, suonato does mean punch-drunk in Italian, though it's actually only applied if you are speaking about boxers (or in a boxing metaphor) - but then, it's the same in English, right?
and hey, if your muse needs some encouragement, here's one: OMG Jack and Juliet were getting married last time I've read something from you. You have to fix that and get Sawyer and Jack back together, where they belong! (Imagine the above all in capslock).
And I want to enjoy your atmospheric writing and your steamy (literally - I still think at the bathtub scene of the smoky 'verse, sometimes) sex scenes again!
:)

That looks like a translation of "stupefied." Which is cute.
Russian is cool. It's on my "to study someday" list. I had one of those language learning CDs and it seemed a lot less difficult than it looks. Unlike, say, Chinese.
Oh, and the five famous men? Josh, Foxy, The Edge...I probably know the other 2 but it's too early to think of it.
