The Island has dislodged my brain
Jan. 28th, 2009 09:07 pmFirst of all, where was my Jack? And yes, ZZ, I can hear you wailing, "Where was my Sayid?" I didn't expect an O6-less episode, but Desmond and his family took their place, I guess. I was worried about Penny through most of the episode, though, because she wouldn't smile. (Except when the baby was born...and they named him Charlie! AWWWWWWW!...but wait. I think we're supposed to assume he's named after *our* Charlie, but Penny's daddy-dearest is named Charles, isn't he? Freaky.) Penny wasn't acting like a woman in love. She was worried about what Desmond was up to...I hope that's all it was. Because I'd hate to see their marriage on the rocks now, with little Charlie in the picture. Another kid, though...we're gonna have a whole "Lost: The Next Generation" thing going on, aren't we, with Aaron and Ji Yeon and Clementine and Charlie. Anyway, back to Penny, it was better at the end, when she told Desmond that she'd follow him anywhere. I want to believe in the Power of Their Love! I want to draw ♥s around Desmond and Penny.
I was worried about my Sawyer, too. The Others told him that they found the rest of their people (uh oh, not Rose and Bernard!) because Sawyer yelled for them to go to the creek. I was afraid Sawyer would beat himself up for being a bad leader when, like Jack before him, he was just doing the best he could. But poor Sawyer and Juliet, things are happening so fast around them that they hardly have time to react to anything. Sawyer's brokenhearted expression when he said that everyone he cared about had blown up on Daniel's boat was the only mourning he had a chance to do...and it was all the more heartbreaking because he acknowledged that he cared about more than just Kate -- he's mourning Jack and Hurley and Sayid and Sun, too. It kills me that for Sawyer, always, love = pain. And John Locke could've told Sawyer and Juliet that the people in the helicopter made it home (Richard told him last week), but he didn't. Sigh. At least Sawyer has Juliet, and she has a heart and a sense of humor. Both of those things will help Sawyer cope. I want to draw ♥s around Sawyer and Juliet.
The female Other in 1954 is named Ellie. Short for Eloise, maybe? And what is Mrs. Hawking's first name? This is spec, not spoilers, but could Mrs. Hawking be Daniel's mother? Presumably she's in Los Angeles where Ben is. Could her first name be Eloise? Could she be Ellie? Could 1954 Daniel be older than his own mother? Freaky. I ♥ Daniel, but why does he have to be in love with Charlotte? I don't want to draw ♥s around Daniel and Charlotte.
And look, there's young Charles Widmore, and surprise! He's an Other. Who didn't see that coming from miles away? And who were the women that present-day Widmore was benefactor-ing? It looks like Daniel put Theresa Spencer through a time-travel experiment, and she thinks she's three (the same age as most of the Next Generation...hmmmm). Those women definitely don't want to draw ♥s around Daniel
Next on Lost: Jack and Kate are kissing. She's coercing him to give his blood for the blood test, isn't she, so she can quit running. Oh Jack, don't let her do that to you. Sigh. No ♥s for them, either.
But still...
I want to draw ♥s around my show. It's back!!! And that's all that matters.

Date: 2009-01-29 04:57 am (UTC)I am actually pleased Penny was a little pissed with Desmond. I love him too, but I imagine his antics can be more than a little infuriating. I think her devotion to him despite this show their marriage is strong.
My flist is so smart making these Ellie - Eloise connections! And your blood test theory seems really apt!

Date: 2009-01-29 05:32 am (UTC)The Ellie/Eloise connection -- does it disturb you a little bit that Daniel named a rat after his mother? Assuming that Eloise *is* his mother, that is. Oh well, at least he seemed to love his poor rat...before he killed her. I hope poor Charlotte isn't going to suffer the same fate.
And your blood test theory seems really apt!
As long as I'm not missing something obvious, like, if it's easy to tell the difference between a male blood sample and a female one, I'm going to guess that this is where Kate's mind was headed when she said, "We can go home." I'm sure she wasn't talking about the island when she said "home." She wants to put the question to rest once and for all, and she'll turn to Jack -- who always wants to save her --- for help. Oh our poor sweet misguided Jack. *draws ♥s around him anyway*

Date: 2009-01-29 06:21 am (UTC)And yes, too many babies!!!!!!!!! Totally Lost: TNG. With all this time travel, it could happen next week! ;) Plus, Locke just sicced the Others on his baby self, starting this whole thing in the first place! What a mess.
When Locke came up to Sawyer all I could think was that now Sawyer knows what Jack was going through all this time -- butting heads with Locke, who is Teh Crazy.

Date: 2009-01-29 11:19 pm (UTC)Hmmm, your mention of baby!Locke got me to thinking. Richard said that they start the process of choosing a leader at a very young age, so maybe that's what the Baby Boom has been about -- setting up candidates for the next leader. Though why we should care, when they're all, like, 2 years old, I just can't fathom.
all I could think was that now Sawyer knows what Jack was going through all this time
I tell you, our two boys are learning to appreciate each other more and more! They will, obviously, fall into each other's arms when they're reunited, both of them asking, "Kate Who?!"

*iz confused*

which leads me to the Others competing to have Jacob's baby. *barfs*

MAKING OUT IN THE HOSPITAL!!! ;) ;)
I hear you on the next generation thing because seriously, what are they doing with all of these kids otherwise?
And Des and Penny are great. As Elliot said, I'm glad that Penny was angry at him in the beginning. I could totally get it.
Totally wording re Sawyer and Juliet. Aaw. *draws hearts too*
And no, those women surely do not. Even if I hadn't pictured Daniel for the guy who got himself a girlfriend. What? Next week Jack and Kate kiss? *headdesk* Meh, I do hate that pairing.
ETA: I've seen the promo for next week and apart from dreading the kiss, if at the beginning it's Claire being in labor and that light they see is from where Locke was banging on the hatch door, you'll probably hear me screaming my lungs out. Just saying. ;)

LOL, of course! How silly of me! ;)
And yeah, you might wanna be practicing your screams, because it *does* look like they're going back to the right time period for your boy, doesn't it?

Date: 2009-01-30 12:08 am (UTC)Heee, they totally were. ;) At least until Jack gets back with Sawyer and Sayid gets into a threesome with Desmond and Penny I see fit that they do make out.
*sigh* I've re-watched it and I'm pretty sure it's there. God. If there's one scene I hated for my personal horrible subjective reasons was Claire giving birth and of course what do I witness again? Not that I'd prefer the other option if it isn't new footage since I'd be bawling instead of screaming, but they do hate me. ;) Oh well. *starts practicing*

Date: 2009-01-29 02:44 pm (UTC)I loved the twist that Widmore was an other. totally. I never saw it coming and I love that. that you caught the blonde's name being Ellie and that someone told me they said that Dan's mom is named Eloise pretty much points a suspicion I had about it too. very curious about that.

Date: 2009-01-29 11:28 pm (UTC)I knew Widmore had to know about the island from somewhere, but I guess he could've been a Dharma-ite rather than an Other...erm, if the Others and the Dharma-ites are different...gah, I'm soooo confused! Help!

Date: 2009-01-29 03:33 pm (UTC)Sawyer and Juliet had barely time to breathe these last two episodes, and it was a little sad because they need to think and talk, they aren't animals that you can just shove around the island. But in the end, at least he didn't feel guilty. I don't think Sawyer would react the same way as Jack anyway. But the love=pain, that is sadly true for him as well. I'm just glad Juliet is there with him.
I thought Mrs Hawking was Daniel's mother last week, and now I'm even more convinced. That she could also be the blonde one on the island - that's interesting.
Don't you think that young Charles Widmore looks a lot like Carl? Could he be his other son? Or - Penny and Des' son? (Lost: the next generation, indeed!!)
I didn't see the promo with the kiss, but yeah, she could be conning him yet again. Although hopefully they will be again on the island before she needs to give the blood sample.

Date: 2009-01-30 12:28 am (UTC)Yes. Though on the other hand, maybe it's best that they don't have time to dwell on what they think has happened to their friends. I liked how Juliet jumped in to soothe him last week when he was looking like he was about to break down. Our poor boy. :(
If Ellie is Daniel's mother, then his mama is one tough girl! I just hope they don't, like, fall in love or something...(ew).
Now that you mention it, the young Widmore DOES look like Karl! Everybody on Lost seems to have a twin, so I wonder if that was deliberate. And I've always just assumed that Karl is spelled with a "K" (I think that's how it was listed in the credits), but if it's with a "C" it could be a nickname for Charlie (or Charles), couldn't it?
I hope that once they're back on the island Claire will re-claim her son so they won't *need* a blood sample. Assuming, that is, we ever see Claire again. Sigh. Poor Claire. :(
