Oh, I think I get it.
Church + Jesus and Thomas + John Locke + 316 + father/son issues + immortality = John 3:16 - For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.
I knew all those years of teaching Sunday School to 4-year-olds would come in handy someday. :)

Date: 2009-02-19 08:19 pm (UTC)They kinda made their Jesusy point with the painting, which got me thinking about Locke having a slash in his side after Boone died, and all the Thomases in the show, and all that jazz.
Cuz, you know, they've neeeeeeeeever hinted at religious overtones before. ;)

Date: 2009-02-19 08:33 pm (UTC)Locke ain't no Jesus and if you read my summary again today, Jesus came in White..Locke in Black, he's the opposite, no matter what he tries to pull, yes the "resurrection" should be happening soon, and I resent it for two reasons, one, again, he's no jesus, does anyone remember he KILLED Boone (or atleast it was his plan to make it look like an "accident) and two, while I'm not practising, good god, why is it alway catholicism that people have to use, honestly, it gets to be tiring.
two things: One, it's about Jack, for Christian is Jacob and Jack is his son, after so many naysayers harshing my gloat last week, I'm even more convinced I was right.
two, Christian "died" to bring him there, Locke "died" to bring him back..to where he belonged..on the island with Christian..or maybe where he's safe, where he's a leader, where he doesn't drink.
Also, Locke is way too full of himself, so he's going to get cut down, that always happens.

In seriousness though, I knew there had to be some kind of biblical reference that I wasn't getting with regards to the episode title. I figured I was wrong when it turned out the flight number was 316, but duh, since when does Lost ever have a single meaning for something? *facepalms at self*

Date: 2009-02-19 11:39 pm (UTC)And yeah, there's always a double meaning to everything, isn't there. Half the fun's in finding it! :)
