OMG YAY!!!

Y'all know about my undying love for Forbes March, aka Nash Brennan on One Life to Live, right? I've been mourning his loss forEVER, but now I see that he's being cast as the new gay character on As the World Turns. I don't watch that show but now I think I WILL!

And in researching this squee-worthy development, I discovered that half of the gay couple on ATWT ([livejournal.com profile] uberaeryn's soap opera OTP?) is named Noah. This caught my attention because half of the OTP in the OC m/m novel I'm writing is named Noah. OMG I get SO tired of typing that name over and over (what's the cure for overusing the guys' names in m/m fic, anyhow?) but it's one of my favorites. So sexy....

Looking at my "BOYZ" post and that heartbreaking pic of little James under the bed, it makes me wonder -- and grumble -- again about why Darlton cast a boy who looked NOTHING LIKE our beloved little!James in the scene with Jacob in the finale? Wouldn't it have been more poignant (and less distracting) if the boy had been a blond with big blue eyes, vulnerable-looking with only a *hint* of the spit-in-your-eye bad boy he was about to become? That brown-haired boy looked too much older (wouldn't the funeral have been right after the shooting?) and almost mean.

It irked me because it was like they didn't even try, but this is also the show where Aaron was the largest newborn ever, so...

You're right, they didn't even try. What REALLY irked me, though, was what a good job they did with little!Kate. They put a lot more effort into finding the perfect child to play her, and that would've been harder than finding an angry/scared little boy with blond hair and blue eyes. Surely they know what an impact little!James made on the viewers when we saw him in "Outlaws." It seems like it'd have been more important, then, to get baby James right than it would be to get a good imitation of Kate, who we never saw as a child before. What the hell were they thinking?

I didn't even know you were writing a novel..YOU GO GIRL!

They don't even try sometimes, seriously, that's one thing about Lost that pisses me the fuck off, they assume they can throw anything at us and we'll just eat it up or won't notice a big, glaring mistake...seeing as there has been times when we've known characters, storylines and backstories better than they do.

Aw, thank you! That's where I've been; that's why I haven't been posting on LJ much lately (but I have been reading my flist!).

See what I said to [livejournal.com profile] emiliglia, ^^^, about the difference between the effort they put into finding a young Kate vs. a little James. It's shameful. :(

i think it's great, I've been telling all of you to just change the names in your fics and publish it, it's not hard.

Why am I so not surprised they didn't even put in the effort, seriously, how hard could it have been to find a blond little boy that acts..seriously, you could throw a rock in Hollywood and hit about 15 of them.

How interesting that ATWT is continuing the gay storyline with a new guy/couple!

You know that was what inspired my story, right? U. going on and on about Luke/Noah (aka "Nuke" lol)

They say that the new gay guy isn't going to break up "Nuke," but Forbes is to HOTT not to have a romantic, sexy storyline of his own. I can't wait to see how they arrange it.

Yeah, I know where your story came from. ;) And I'm glad it did!

I'm surprised that you have No Comment about the boy who played baby!James in the finale. We've never talked about it before, though I meant to vent a long time ago.

you know I ignore that which does not fit my world view. and lil James in the finale is that. I had some venting in my lj at the time.

I wonder if they figured since they couldn't get/use the first kid they knew people would bitch and so didn't care or try. That would explain the seeming effort difference between casting (or just success in) lil Kate and lil James.

They could have tried harder, though! I think we all envision lil James as a slender blond boy, NOT a chunky brown-haired one. That just doesn't even make sense! (Though maybe they're trying to tell us that our Sawyer isn't really that boy, he just stole his identity...naw, I don't want to go there.)

So yeah, we should just erase that kid from our world-view (phooey!), because we know better.

You know, you are absolutely right about the boy who played baby!James in the finale. I was semi-drunk when I watched it, but I knew that wasn't the same kid, and didn't look anything like him by a long shot. I don't know why they didn't try harder, it couldn't have been difficult at all to get someone who looked a little more like him. And the young Kate, I agree, was absolutely perfect.

I don't think that anybody, not even if they were drunk ;), could've mistaken that for the same little boy. The difference was so glaring that it almost makes me wonder if the writers did it on purpose, or are they really *that* careless? I hate 'em, though, because I adored the little blond boy under the bed; I wanted to hold him and cuddle him and protect him, and the new boy didn't stir up those feelings at all. How hard would it've been for them to find a little towhead who looked like the boy who made all of us girls saw "awwwwwww"? Bad writers, BAD. :(
