Where in the world is Allie?
Jul. 22nd, 2009 06:17 pmHey, y'all, I'm not here.
I'm just pretending to be here for a sec 'cause I think I'm friended with all (most? hopefully ALL) of the luau gals and although I was keeping up pretty well with both my reading and writing, Thing 2 had a Teen Moment (kinda like a Senior Moment only bitchier) and refused to go for her summer visit with her grandma unless I went with. I'd write it up to snotty kid-ish-ness but I could see that under the attitude was that teenage terror of feeling awkward, and it wouldn't hurt me to visit my mom anyhow, so I'm suddenly in TN for a few days. Meaning I will FALL BEHIND ON THE LUAU, CURSES!!! I wanted this to be the first year I got through it steadily and calmly and dramalessly and made each Queen feel like a Queen on her Queenly day (or at least somewhere in close proximity thereof). The best laid plans are doomed to the shitter, or something like that, and anyhow, that's why I'm behind and I've learned that when I promise I'll catch up, I never do. Ergo, if I don't promise, I WILL, so, no promises. (That makes sense, right?) Have fun while I'm gone. I'll be back Monday.
LOVE YOU GUYS!!!!! ♥ ♥ ♥

Date: 2009-07-23 01:46 am (UTC)Have fun, love! You will be fine! I'm even more behind and I barely went anywhere! You're right - families are important too, so just you look after Thing 2 and enjoy your mother too! ;-)

Date: 2009-07-29 08:04 pm (UTC)I need to devote my entire life for the next 6 months to catching up, I'm afraid. Being slow, coupled with having been away, makes my task daunting. But I'll do it, maybe not all of it but I WILL finish your story because it's already partly written and I love it, so it'll happen...when it happens. I ♥ you for you patience!

Date: 2009-07-24 08:02 pm (UTC)*Things* do tend to grow up...at least the humam versions of them. And yet you do find yourself having Suess-like conversations with them even into young adulthood (my Thing 1 is 22), because the world looks so completely different to them than it does to us. That's why I think my Things will always be Things to me. ;)

Yes. Today's, for example:
Thing 2: Mom, can I go with 4 of my friends to a thrift store in [the giant metropolis where we live]? We'll take the subway - it's on the [line that only runs through the worst part of town].
Me: No. It's in a dicey are of the city.
Thing 2: But Mom! It'll be all right!
Me: Where is it exactly?
Thing 2: I don't know, but Selina knows.
Me: No.
Thing 2: But there will be 5 of us!
Me: And your point is?
Thing 2: But Mom! (hoping that enough insistence will wear me down as it sometimes does.)
Me: It's only a thrift shop.
Thing 2: *sigh* *click*
