O__O

Y'ALL, IT'S SNOWING!!!!!! *stares out the window with googley eyes* SNOW! SNOW! SNOW! FALLING FROM THE SKY AND STICKING TO THE GROUND! That's...that's like...WHOA!

Okay, you Canadians (yeah, all 5 of you), go on and laugh your you-hoo's off at me. I'm like a kid who's never been to DisneyWorld before, when she first stares down Main Street. Mesmerized! It hasn't snowed like this since Thing 2 was a baby...and she'll be 17 in a week, so....

WHEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!!!!!!!

What-all should I cook (because snow makes me want to): Chili, of course, and hot chocolate with marshmallows, and beef stew in the crock pot to make the house smell all warm and homey, and what else? Hubby has to pass the grocery store on his way home from work, and they're gonna close his workplace at 1:00, so I can make a list for him and cook anything I want. Ideas???????????????? ([livejournal.com profile] zelda_zee, I'm lookin' at YOU!)

LOOK, [livejournal.com profile] cynthia_arrow, that's REAL SNOW! Come over to my house to play, and we'll have a snowball fight! ;) The rest of y'all Southerners, the party's at my house...except you can't come because Mama Allie won't allow you to risk your necks driving here. So it'll be a virtual party. Here, first we need a snowman:

[identity profile] jaydblu.livejournal.com 2010-01-07 07:43 pm (UTC)(link)
Oh my gosh, you are precious. :D Wow, it has been a while for the snow for you, huh?

I think your menu sounds perfectly fine, pretty damn delicious in fact. :)

[identity profile] alliecat8.livejournal.com 2010-01-07 09:05 pm (UTC)(link)
Hee, snow makes me feel like a little kid. It brings back that euphoria of getting a sudden holiday, and getting to do things we couldn't normally do, like sledding on all the big hills in our neighborhood. If it snows enough I WILL sled on the hill in front of my house today. It's a really big hill, but I'm not afraid! The only problem is, nobody sells sleds here. In fact, when we had that other snow Thing 1 was six, and he wanted to sled, so hubby went to WalMart and asked if they had them and the guy he asked didn't even know what one was!!! I might have to use one of my big cookie sheets or something. I'll probably break my you-hoo. :/

Mmmmmmmmm, warm-comfort food. I left out the grilled cheese sandwiches and tomato soup, which is our snow-day lunch.

I'm glad you think I'm precious instead of a total flake! A SNOW-flake. OMG, I'm getting nutttier by the minute. I'll shut up now...love ya, sweetheart!

[identity profile] jaydblu.livejournal.com 2010-01-07 09:38 pm (UTC)(link)
hubby went to WalMart and asked if they had them and the guy he asked didn't even know what one was

shut up! He didn't know what a sled was? What was the guy born under a rock, or what??? Nobody around there sells sleds? Wowsers. I wouldn't even know what to substitute, because we've always had something to use.

Don't hurt yourself, baby! ;)

[identity profile] haldoor.livejournal.com 2010-01-08 11:44 pm (UTC)(link)
even I know what a sled is, and we don't even get snow - EVER! What a moron!

[identity profile] cynthia-arrow.livejournal.com 2010-01-07 08:03 pm (UTC)(link)
It's just rain here now, although I saw a few stray flakes earlier.

What a cute snowman!

[identity profile] alliecat8.livejournal.com 2010-01-07 09:11 pm (UTC)(link)
It'll turn into snow later, probably. And the rain will freeze under it, so it's really dangerous. You could be walking through the snow and not see a patch of ice underneath and...ouch! Tomorrow morning is probably the most treacherous time, so BE CAREFUL. I don't want anything to happen to my LJ l'il sis! ♥

[identity profile] haldoor.livejournal.com 2010-01-07 08:23 pm (UTC)(link)
Awww, I'd love to come there for real - we've never had snow where I live! (and since it's summer, not at all at this time of year!) But since this is a virtual party, I'm with ya in spirit! I'll have me some hot chocolate and marshmallows, please?

No suggestions as to what to cook - my idea is have him buy something hot and bring it home! HAHA (sorry, you're talking to Mz lazy cook here)

[identity profile] alliecat8.livejournal.com 2010-01-07 09:28 pm (UTC)(link)
I've been thinking about you a lot lately, because it would seem so odd to me to have Christmas in the summertime. I'd love to come there and see what it's like. OR you come here -- we've gotta meet for real sometime! It would be a tragedy if we never got to *HUG* each other in person!

Your hot chocolate is coming right up. And it's the good old-fashioned kind, where you heat milk on the stove and then add chocolate sauce. I use the powdered Nestle's Quick because I don't like the taste of Hershey's sauce. Then I put those little marshmallows on top and they get all melty...here ya go! Enjoy!

[identity profile] haldoor.livejournal.com 2010-01-07 09:44 pm (UTC)(link)
Oh, Christmas in summertime is really awesome! Everyone should do it once. What I love about it is there's no real weather hassles (apart from is it going to rain on the Day, which it usually does! Although this year, we had the best weather for Christmas Day in decades!), and everyone kinda slows down and relaxes (well, especially once Christmas is actually over) as it's summer school holidays and town goes quiet and everyone just lazes around in the sun or at the beach or whatever... it's just so cruisy.

And yes, we do have to meet up! I'd love to come over there, because although I've been to the States, there are many places I never got to, and it's just so much better if you can meet up with friends! I'd love you to come here, too, of course!

Mmm, the hot chocolate sounds great! I don't care for it with sauce either, so you made it just right! (we have this stuff here call 'Drinking Chocolate' and it's just powdered chocolate, I swear! When I was a kid we used to sneak spoonfuls just to eat like that cos it melted in your mouth and mmmmmmmm. Now, I'm a good girl - I just put two heaped spoonfuls in my cup and drink it!) And the marshmallows are those cute lil ones - yay! Thanks, my love, it's delicious! ;-)

[identity profile] tellshannon815.livejournal.com 2010-01-08 10:32 pm (UTC)(link)
we've never had snow where I live!

Please, have some of mine. The morons are predicting more s*** for the weekend, and given that the last lot of s*** still hasn't gone, I don't want it!

[identity profile] haldoor.livejournal.com 2010-01-08 11:47 pm (UTC)(link)
Ha! I'm still reading that as shit (sorry, Allie!).

I'm not sure they're morons; they're just doing the weather predictions with the material to hand; meteorology is so variable that it's hard for them to be 100% correct. Moron = the guy who didn't know what a sled is! (see comments above)

[identity profile] alliecat8.livejournal.com 2010-01-15 01:40 am (UTC)(link)
I'm with [livejournal.com profile] haldoor -- I'm conditioned to read s*** as "shit"! Because snow (forgive me for saying the bad word) isn't a bad word here! Unless you're one of the loonies who's planning to go to WalMart and buy 20 loaves of bread and 30 gallons of milk. Then you'll be stuck in crowds worse than the ones right before Christmas. Crazy fools. Unless they're predicting an ice storm (which we had once when I was away - in the Smoky Mountains where we had a ton of lovely, pristine mountain snow) - the hubby and kids were stuck in the house with no electricity and they were going hungry! Finally hubby piled them in the car and took them to stay at the Air Force Base, where everything was powered by huge generators, but it was a crazy thing to try to drive and his was the only car on the road. I guess it was the only thing he could do, though. Even if he'd bought 20 loaves of bread, who wants to be freezing their a**es off and eating bread and water? On lordy, I'm rambling...do you still have snow? We don't, so if you wanna send some my way, feel free! :)

[identity profile] tellshannon815.livejournal.com 2010-01-15 11:52 pm (UTC)(link)
It's going now, thankfully, and you can certainly have what's left of the crappy old slush! When we first got it, it was seen as a good word, but it went on for so long that everyone got fed up of it.
siluria: (Lost_Jack_Snow)

[personal profile] siluria 2010-01-07 08:54 pm (UTC)(link)
Wow - you have snow too??? And was going to offload a few inches in your direction ;)

[identity profile] alliecat8.livejournal.com 2010-01-07 09:34 pm (UTC)(link)
How much have you got? I'll take whatever you wanna give me, because we'll be lucky to get half an inch. That snowstorm 17 years ago brought 8 inches, but nothing like that has ever happened since...Thing 2 (I know you know his name but on LJ he's only known by his alter ego ;) ) has a girlfriend who's never seen snow in her life. The sad thing is that she lives in this town -- she goes to college here -- but she doesn't come back from Christmas break 'til Saturday. So she'll miss it!

I ADORE our snow icons!!! And you -- I definitely adore YOU 'cause you're a total genius! :D
siluria: (Lost_Jack_Snow)

[personal profile] siluria 2010-01-07 10:03 pm (UTC)(link)
We've got a good 8 inches, so I can spare a few :)

Awwwww, poor Thing2's-GF!!

*luvs you too*

[identity profile] alliecat8.livejournal.com 2010-01-07 10:50 pm (UTC)(link)
Yeah, and look at what a bad mom I am -- I got his name wrong! "Thing 2 (I know you know his name but on LJ he's only known by his alter ego ;)". He is Thing 1!!! Gah, how can you luv me when I'm such a dumbass?
siluria: (Men_hugh_kiss)

[personal profile] siluria 2010-01-07 10:56 pm (UTC)(link)
LOL - first rule of secret identities, remember the alter-ego's name :) *luvs you regardless*

[identity profile] gottalovev.livejournal.com 2010-01-07 11:53 pm (UTC)(link)
*smiles fondly*
*pets*

you'll have to come and visit me one day, when there's snow for real. I'm sure you'd love it! and well dressed, it's perfectly ok, no one dies of cold!

[identity profile] alliecat8.livejournal.com 2010-01-15 01:48 am (UTC)(link)
I definitely want to come and visit you one day. I keep reminding you Canadians that *one of you* suggested that the GFG3 be held in Canada -- was that you? I'm gonna keep reminding all 3 of you so nobody forgets! And I wanna do it when it's snowing, though that probably presents all kinds of logistical problems. But I still want it. Kinda like a little kid who knows she can't have the real Cinderella's castle for Christmas, but asks for it anyway. :)

[identity profile] gottalovev.livejournal.com 2010-01-15 02:05 am (UTC)(link)
well I did suggest here for GFG2, would certainly think that GFG3 in Qc be a great idea! and it's not any logistical problem, save from you guys finding boots and warm clothes ;)

[identity profile] demonqueen666.livejournal.com 2010-01-08 12:23 am (UTC)(link)
...that snowman has really creepy eyes.

[identity profile] alliecat8.livejournal.com 2010-01-15 01:51 am (UTC)(link)
awwwwwwww...you don't like my snowman? He does look kinda like a pervert who's just spied some adolescent eye candy, doesn't he? Next thing we know those branches of his will be in handcuffs! Thanks for being an observent citizen. ;)

[identity profile] eponine119.livejournal.com 2010-01-08 01:41 am (UTC)(link)
don't you make cynthia arrow drive to your house in the snow!

enjoy it. there's a rumor we're getting ice again so I can commiserate a bit.

also, your moodtheme, lol! long-haired walker texas ranger!Josh.

[identity profile] alliecat8.livejournal.com 2010-01-15 01:54 am (UTC)(link)
Awwwww, you know I'd go get cynthia arrow before I'd make her risk her live driving to me, don't you? But it didn't even snow enough for a snowball fight. :( I think I might have to make another trip to your house to have an actual one of those. And if so, WATCH OUT. I fight dirty. >;)
meredith44: Can't talk, I'm reading (Winter snowman by sunlitdays)

[personal profile] meredith44 2010-01-08 10:12 am (UTC)(link)
I'm not Canadian, but we've had 40 inches of snow this year (last year we'd had 60 inches by this point, so I shouldn't complain), so may I giggle a little as well? *grin* The kids I teach are starting to get sick of the snow, and it is only January! (They used to be excited about sledding on the playground; now they're like, "Whatever.")

Actually, I'd be okay with the snow if it weren't for the cold. I can't remember the last time it was above freezing, and all of these days where it stays in the teens? Ugh.

[identity profile] alliecat8.livejournal.com 2010-01-15 01:57 am (UTC)(link)
Uhhhhh, FORTY inches? My mind is boggled beyond comprehension. Go ahead and giggle at me; everybody else is doing it. It's the latest fashion, apparently. Heh.

I also can't imagine kids getting sick of snow. We should do an exchange, kinda like they do "exchange students" from other countries. I think both sets of kids would be in for some serious culture shock!

[identity profile] tellshannon815.livejournal.com 2010-01-08 10:31 pm (UTC)(link)
Have some of our s*** too. I've had a gutful!

[identity profile] alliecat8.livejournal.com 2010-01-15 01:58 am (UTC)(link)
* pets*

Spring will be here soon. I hope.

[identity profile] birch-tree.livejournal.com 2010-01-10 03:14 pm (UTC)(link)
ohhh, I know how you feel!! I get all excited and childlike when I see snow, except we never get it in my hometown -at least, not the proper stuff, sticking to the ground and staying there for longer than a few seconds...
So, virtual party at your house it will be!
Here's a snowball flying your way! :DDD

[identity profile] alliecat8.livejournal.com 2010-01-15 02:22 am (UTC)(link)
YAY, someone who understands me! Everybody else is laughing their asses off, the traitors. This is for them: :P Too bad I couldn't moon 'em.

And we'll just virtually party on!

Here's a snowball flying your way!

[identity profile] birch-tree.livejournal.com 2010-01-16 02:35 pm (UTC)(link)
do you still have snow ?
Now that I started planning a little trip somewhere colder -Amsterdam or London- snow is starting to melt away there...

[identity profile] valhalla37.livejournal.com 2010-01-10 08:20 pm (UTC)(link)
We actually didn't have snow until right before Christmas around here, so I have to admit I'm still a little excited by it. ;P Probably won't be the case when I'm commuting to work in -30C next week, but whatever.

[identity profile] alliecat8.livejournal.com 2010-01-15 02:27 am (UTC)(link)
Did you have a white Christmas? If so, I'm jealous! We went to New York City, and you'd think that there we'd be pretty likely to have a white Christmas, but no, all we got was cold and rain. It was an awesome vacation anyway, and we got one beautiful day which happened to be the day we were going to the Statue of Liberty, so that worked out well. And we stayed at a hotel that was right on Rockerfeller Plaza, with the giant Christmas tree and the skating rink, and (unfortunately, since I have a teenage girl) all the 5th Ave. shopping RIGHT THERE. So you can guess where we spent most of our time. ;)

-30 sounds terribly scary. We Southerners bury ourselves under the covers when the temp drops below +30. You are made of hardier stuff than we are!
