TATTOO DAYS ARE DIFFERENT. IT'S NOT THE CAPSLOCK -- I DO THAT ANYWAY. IT'S THIS THING WHERE I SUDDENLY REALIZE, HEY, I HAVE A TATTOO, WORLD!!!. On these days I wear my hair up so my tat, which is on the back of my neck, shows proudly -- the quill pen with the rose wrapped around it and the drop of ink and the drop of blood -- I feel all different and free. Perhaps this came from a conversation with the Ultra-Conservative Thing 2 Teenage Mutant Daughter as we were watching American Idol last night, and I was admiring all the tattoos. Then I started musing about what I'll get when I go to Ireland and maybe Scotland(SUGGESTIONS, ANYONE?) and DAMMIT, THIS TIME I'M GONNA GET 'EM WHERE I CAN SEE THEM. Or...probably not because I live amongst ladies. Y'know, LADIES. And I'm supposed to be one, which I will pretend to be for T2's sake for a couple more years. Anyway, she announced that I don't have a tattoo because mothers don't do that.
gottalovev, FEEL FREE TO CHIME IN ANY TIME. MY TATTOO MAKES ME FEEL LIKE "SUCH A RADICAL!" (SEE EPONINE119'S JOURNAL, SHE WHO STOLE ALL THE GOOD QUOTES [LIKE THAT ONE] FROM SPRING AWAKENING). ANYHOW, YOU NEEDED TO KNOW THAT SO YOU'D UNDERSTAND. JUST WAIT TIL YOU SEE WHAT-ALL I'MA GONNA POST TODAY, 'CAUSE IT'S TATTOO DAY.

Date: 2010-02-04 09:39 pm (UTC)My tattooed mom cousins would find that hysterical. (SRSLY, I'm like the weird cousin because I don't have one.)

Date: 2010-02-04 09:46 pm (UTC)Speaking of Irish things, if I was to get one, I wanted a claddagh symbol on the small of my back.

Date: 2010-02-04 10:08 pm (UTC)Ooooh, I love Claddagh symbols...I wear one sometimes on my wedding finger, since I won't wear my wedding ring. I guess I just love the symbol. And it would look lovely on your back. So, come to Scotland in July (cause I'll be there) and we'll zip off to Ireland and get our tattoos! ;)

Date: 2010-02-04 10:19 pm (UTC)I want this Irish poem tattooed on me, but I'd have to find a place, and maybe divide it into 2 places:
We are the music makers
And we are the dreamers of dreams....(I'm leaving some out)
But we are the movers and shakers
Of the world forever it seems.
That just seems so true of the dreamy, yet so influential Irish writers. And I wish I was one!

My mom is almost 60,she is a gorgeous oldfashioned lady and only a few days ago she was saying that she'd get a tattoo if she wasn't so afraid of a pain, lol.

Date: 2010-02-04 10:25 pm (UTC)She needs to read the last chapter of "Why Is My Mother Getting a Tattoo (and other questions I'm afraid to ask). It's very empowering.
Tell her that the pain is one of the best parts, because you feel like even if you're of an age, you're not frail and you're taking on that pain dragon and kicking it's ass.

Date: 2010-02-05 10:53 pm (UTC)Oh,mom knows-she is not afraid, really.I believe she is cool enough with the idea of a tattoo, but doesn't really want one and pain is a convenient excuse.

Date: 2010-02-04 10:14 pm (UTC)Also, my sister (who is 11 years younger than me) tells me regularly that girls can't have tattoos, because it's not appropriate. It makes me giggle.

Date: 2010-02-05 02:20 am (UTC)Does T2 not know you have a tattoo? Maybe I misread that. Because how could you keep it a secret for that long?
You are hilarious. When are you going to Ireland? With whom? I remember that you are going, but nothing else.
(oh no! I just deleted my tattoo icon! But it's using the same picture as gottalovev, so just look there.)

Date: 2010-02-05 02:30 am (UTC)I haven't gotten one yet. I want one! But haven't gotten one. I think the first one (because from what I've heard they're a gateway drug!) will have my brothers' initials on it somewhere, because they're (non-creepy I swear) the first 3 loves of my life and they always will be. That's the only exception I think I could ever make to "no names tattoo'd on ever."
And Ireland! That's so awesome! I want to go back :( I was in Cork for a few days back in college and I LOVED it...I should just pack up and meet you there...
*wishes*

I recently got a new one on my ankle - its my most visible one, and i just love that its out there.

Date: 2010-02-10 09:18 pm (UTC)Maybe your hip as well? That would be pretty hidden. I'd love to have one on my wrist, but that's too "out there" for a government bureaucrat, I think. ;P
