TODAY IS TATTOO DAY. YOU NEED TO KNOW THIS WHY?
TATTOO DAYS ARE DIFFERENT. IT'S NOT THE CAPSLOCK -- I DO THAT ANYWAY. IT'S THIS THING WHERE I SUDDENLY REALIZE, HEY, I HAVE A TATTOO, WORLD!!!. On these days I wear my hair up so my tat, which is on the back of my neck, shows proudly -- the quill pen with the rose wrapped around it and the drop of ink and the drop of blood -- I feel all different and free. Perhaps this came from a conversation with the Ultra-Conservative Thing 2 Teenage Mutant Daughter as we were watching American Idol last night, and I was admiring all the tattoos. Then I started musing about what I'll get when I go to Ireland and maybe Scotland(SUGGESTIONS, ANYONE?) and DAMMIT, THIS TIME I'M GONNA GET 'EM WHERE I CAN SEE THEM. Or...probably not because I live amongst ladies. Y'know, LADIES. And I'm supposed to be one, which I will pretend to be for T2's sake for a couple more years. Anyway, she announced that I don't have a tattoo because mothers don't do that.
gottalovev, FEEL FREE TO CHIME IN ANY TIME. MY TATTOO MAKES ME FEEL LIKE "SUCH A RADICAL!" (SEE EPONINE119'S JOURNAL, SHE WHO STOLE ALL THE GOOD QUOTES [LIKE THAT ONE] FROM SPRING AWAKENING). ANYHOW, YOU NEEDED TO KNOW THAT SO YOU'D UNDERSTAND. JUST WAIT TIL YOU SEE WHAT-ALL I'MA GONNA POST TODAY, 'CAUSE IT'S TATTOO DAY.

She needs to read the last chapter of "Why Is My Mother Getting a Tattoo (and other questions I'm afraid to ask). It's very empowering.
Tell her that the pain is one of the best parts, because you feel like even if you're of an age, you're not frail and you're taking on that pain dragon and kicking it's ass.

Oh,mom knows-she is not afraid, really.I believe she is cool enough with the idea of a tattoo, but doesn't really want one and pain is a convenient excuse.
