Hawaii Five-O (no spoilers)

WELL! I guess I've officially been initiated into the Hawaii Five-O club! I went to ABC's website where they say you can watch full episodes, but the earliest one I could find was, like, the fourth one. So I had to try to fill in the gaps from what they said, and I take it that Steve is the wildman and Dan-O is the practical one. And OMG, the slash between those two is off the scale! Actually my stupid computer (or ABC's stupid site) quit about halfway through the episode, but it was enough for me to see what all the hype is about. (But I want to see Steve's tats, dammit!)

I went to gottalovev's journal because I know she's a big fan, and looked at her comms and found a great one that includes a newsletter with recaps and fic and icons, etc., and I'm in the process of doing a lot of catching up there. Thanks, Lou! I still want to watch all of the episodes that've aired up til now, though, if there's any way to do that...does anybody know of anything I haven't tried?

I'm not anywhere near ready to write fic about the show, and one thing that worries me is all the technology they use. I'm sure you all know how badly I fail at technology; I can barely even work my cell phone (I can dial it and answer it and I sorta text, tho a ten word sentence takes me 5 minutes to type and I still make typos!), so if I have to put any of that in the fic I'm screwed. I guess I just need to concentrate on the slash, huh?

So talk to me about this show! Rec me some fics, maybe. Or just tell me your take on it. As you know, I'm intrigued by the glimpses I've seen of Off the Map, but I think I can fit one more show into the schedule. So talk to me, fangirls!!!

Yay for new fans! It's a really fun show, and I say this as a bit of a loyalist to the original version, too. As for recs, I have a list here with recs of fic and of other rec lists. Among the latter, hermette, topaz119, and zelda_zee have some really good ones. Hope you have a good time with 'em!

Really, I think I'm happier about being back among my Lost peeps than I am about discovering that I like the show, although I DO like the show a lot. I just missed y'all!

I remember the original version of the show; I watched it all the time way back when. So yeah, I like seeing the elements of the original show re-created in the new veersion.

Thank you for the recs! I plan to read a lot this weekend, so I hope that soon I'll be up-to-speed on everything that's happened til now, and have a better insight into the characters' psyches.

Allie, can you d/l episodes as quicktime files? Cause if you can, I can send you the episodes to d/l. Let me know! If you get stuck, I have all the episodes on my computer and I can burn them to CDs and mail them to you. :) I did that for haldoor already, and this slash fairy will always be glad to work again.

Glad you're joining the club! So many Lost people are into H50, that's one of the great things about it. It's fun to play with the old gang again.

I've been reccing H50 since the first fics started to be posted. You can access my rec posts from my journal - there's a link on the right side of the page. I encourage you to use recs, if not mine, someone else's, as there is a lot of crappy writing in the fandom and it's a pain to wade through. But there's awesome fic too - more and more good writers as time goes by. It's a super-fun show with nothing one needs to spend any time thinking about other than the fun and the pretty - 100% angst-free.

I'm glad to be joining the club, too, ESPECIALLY since I get to hang out with you and so many others from the Lost fandom. I MISS the old gang like crazy, and it's just a bonus that I also really like the show.

I will definitely use your recs; I have a peaceful weekend planned to catch up on my email and read fics from the Five Things meme and from H5O recs. So thand you for telling me where to find the good stuff. I trust your judgment completely!

You need to read Laura's latest fic because it's amazing and honestly,there is still not all that much good fic out there-but there is enough for you to start reading and fandom is growing so we have hope!

Yes, shiny and fun is exactly how I would describe H5O. It's not a "thinky" show like Lost, and since I've stayed in the Lost community as a mod and contributor to TheQuillStation and as a fic writer, my brain could use a rest! Although I do see lots of lovely angst in Steve and hints of it in Danno, so there will be some emotional thinking involved if and when I decide to start writing fics. And that is a good thing! :)

I definitely WILL read Laura's new fic...maybe I'll start with it, and then move on to the recs that zelda_zee gave me. I'm so happy that I can depend on you guys to direct me to the all the best places! And although my Lost peeps will always be my favorites, I look forward to meeting people in the fandom. I don't see a downside to this at all, especially since you're here! *HUGE GINORMOUS HUGS*

I've been looking for a show like H5-0 for a while-I am tired of "messing with your brain" kinda shows and their insane fandoms.H5-0 is absolutely perfect for me these days and it's only getting better and fandom is only growing and that is great!

Many of us,former Lost fans are there and there is a bunch of other cool people and writers.Hope you'll decide to join the slashy fun and start writing fics too-what can I say,I am greedy;P

I just love the show for the pretty, and the scenery, and the Team spirit (and that Danno and Steve are so obviously smitten for each other). In fact, I love it because it fills the void I had about Stargate Atlantis is not airing anymore, it's that kind of fun, and I'm enjoying to the fullest.

Yes, I love shows that are colorful and full of pretty people, and this one fits the bill perfectly. Hee, I loved it when that prisoner asked Steve and Danno "how long have you two been married," because that's how they act, like an old married couple. Or a non-couple who are fighting their attraction to each other like mad. I never watched Stargate Atlantis but I'm missing Lost like crazy right now (probably because this time last year it was about to come back), and I need something to take my mind off of it. I think this will be fun, and even if it doesn't fill the void completely, it helps a LOT that so many of my GOOD Lost friends are in the fandom. Like you! I'm excited!!! :)
