2 things....
Feb. 24th, 2011 01:48 pmFirst off, thanks to
elise_509 I am almost ready to start writing Hawaii Five-0 slash! My darling girl sent me DVDs of all the episodes, and I'm busily catching up. I have a question, though. I've heard that a lot of the Sawyer girls are lining up behind Danny. As a Sawyer-girl (to the max!) and a Steve-girl, I'm curious. I don't feel as if I know Danny all that well yet (tho maybe that's because I haven't watched all the episodes). So help me out here, y'all. Tell me why you love Dan-o. Help me see into his soul, so I can write him as well as I wrote Sawyer.
Second, before I dive headfirst into slashing/writing H50 fic, I have two challenges left unfinished from Lost. I have six prompts left to finish my Sawyer claim at
fanfic100, and ten prompts left before I finish my
30_wounds table. So I need to stop slacking and get down to business! I'm asking for your help again, but this time I think I'll do a poll.

Date: 2011-02-24 08:36 pm (UTC)now I never saw any relation what so ever between my love for Danny and my love for Sawyer, but it could be a trend in the fandom. Interesting. (Though on the other hand there would be a relation with my love for McKay like whoa. My instant liking of Danny must be my longing for Rodney, in some form or another).
Danny gets me for the papa!bear attitude, his absolute love for his daughter, the snark, the humor, the HUGE personality, how he's short but takes so much room, never backs down, how competent he is at his job and how he wears his heart on his sleeve. Steve is the prettiest, but he's less fun a character for me even if he's got a huge heart too and I love his craziness.
Scott sells me Danny 100% while I want to pet Alex's hair and tell him that he's doing so great, keep going honey. It's not fair because Steve's part is harder for the actor, but it's like that anyway.

Date: 2011-03-01 08:11 pm (UTC)I've been thinking about the correlation between Danny and Sawyer, as I watch more and get to know Danny better. He has a daughter like Sawyer does. (I imagine Sawyer would be protective of Clementine on the unlikely chance he was ever allowed to be part of her life). They both have teh snark, tho I think Sawyer wins, heh. They are both competent when they have a job to do, and even more coincidentally, we saw Sawyer as a cop for about 30 seconds! They both wear their heart on their sleeve when they are in love, though Sawyer was able to choose "business" over love with Cassidy. Danny is like a more evolved Sawyer, I think; he's the Sawyer we might have seen if they'd let the sideways story play out and Clementine was a part of it.
I love Steve's craziness, his tats, his awesome bod, and his "don't touch me" eyes. He's a challenge to me, to get behind those eyes and see what's really there. I think that's why I find him the more fascinating of the two.
Funny, what you said about Scott "selling" Danny 100% is kind of like what my husband said, that Danny IS Scott, while Alex is an excellent actor.

Date: 2011-03-01 11:52 pm (UTC)Maybe it's because I've been writing John Sheppard for years, but Steve is way more transparent for me than Danno. Dannny is excruciatingly difficult for me as a character... and yet for the few fic I wrote it was Danny POVs, so I might be a masochist.
thank god Alex got better as Steve because seriously for the first couple of episodes it was like watching a robot (which was intended, I think). I loved Danny from the first minute, then got to love Steve along the way. In the end, I love them both dearly.

Date: 2011-03-02 08:07 pm (UTC)I guess I just can't get anything about him right...maybe I shouldn't even try writing fic at this point. Though I usually wrote Lostfic from Jack's POV and he was as difficult as difficult could be for me to comprehend - I felt that the time I really got him right was the very last time I wrote him (long after you stopped reading J/S) in my lighthouse fic, where he was totally batshit crazy but stayed completely committed to his own instincts throughout every bizarre circumstance that was thrown at him.
I haven't learned to love Danny yet but I need to try looking at him through Steve's eyes (and maybe Grace's!) and I'm sure that'll do the trick!

Date: 2011-03-01 08:21 pm (UTC)OH, and YES, my love for Sawyer was/IS definitely deeper. I don't think anyone will ever either equal or replace Sawyer in my heart. ♥

Date: 2011-02-26 12:53 pm (UTC)Danny is Scott. I get the impression Scott is just being himself when he plays him :) He's emotional, honest, cares too much, and says exactly what he's thinking. He's his own man. Steve is armed forces and used to following orders unequivocally, but he's also used to getting the job done whatever the cost and putting himself out there for his team.
I'm looking forward to your fic :)
