Show and Tell (finally!)
Mar. 3rd, 2011 02:22 pmThose of you who know my shameful secret, the ridiculous and fairly humiliating thing I do every spring, have bugged me and bugged me to see a pic of me in the dress I wear when I play hostess at a local antebellum home during our town's annual Pilgrimage. I've always refused because, well, eeeeewwwwwwww! How embarrassing! My dress (one I borrowed from the Lady who owns the mansion) is a reproduction of Scarlett O'Hara's Gone With the Wind "portier" dress - the one she made from curtains. Here is what it looks like.
Well, this year I rebelled. (We WERE the Rebel Army, after all!) I decided that if we stay in this town, which we will do at least until the kids finish college (and Thing 1 might be there for the next 20 years, at the rate he's going, argh), I don't want to be saddled with that ugly dress forever. So I went out and bought one of my own! WHAT a DIFFERENCE! It makes my boobs look huge and my waist look tiny, and it's SO much more comfortable than that hot, itchy curtain dress! When I wear it at Pilgrimage time, I will post a picture of me in it. Then you can laugh at me all you want! ;P
