Thing 1 JOINED THE NAVY.

This is my college kid who does nothing but play the guitar, play soccer, and play endless soccer x-box games on the tv he still owes us $2000 for. Went out, while I was in France, and joined the freaking NAVY!

I have no words. My mind rebels whenever I try to conceive of this. Help me make it make sense!!!

at least we'll finally get our two grand back!

Here's the story I wanted to tell you last night but didn't manage to.

One of the gals I work with, her son barely made it out of high school. Just bored, unmotivated, typical kid. He joined the service earlier this year and just finished basic training. She is incredibly proud of him. Went from "I'm gonna murder that loser" to being a total proud mom.

I am horrified by ANYONE joining the military in this day and age, but. Maybe it will work out. And I feel like maybe the Navy is safer than the other branches. (Maybe cause my grandfather was a merchant marine in WW2 and just sailed around everywhere.)
