Revolution

If y'all wanted to watch J.J. Abram's new show - which I mysteriously seem to be the only person on my flist who watched...and liked! - they're replaying it tonight (Wed.) on NBC at 10 p.m. (ET).

It occurred to me that, since a bunch of us already have a committment at Revolution's present time slot - Mondays at 10 - Hawaii 5-0, of course! - that might be why you stayed away. Because otherwise, it seems like the kind of show the flist *I* know might like! :) I'm in the same boat; I'm not giving up on watching MY BOYS when they air! But I will record Revolution, at least until I know if it's gonna draw me in or not.

Consider this a Public Service Announcement.

I liked Revolution too! I'm watching the rerun right now. :)

*high fives you* I watched the rerun too! I like to watch a show just for my visceral reaction the first time, then pay more attention to the details the second time around. I'm still happy with it! I guess tomorrow's the next ep (?) - I haven't heard any commercials but then I haven't been watching much network tv lately. But I'm really curious to see where they're going with it.

I will definitely be trying to catch the pilot, I've been interested since the moment I heard Abrams and Kripke were cooking up something together! That's all the hook I need; now to find the time...

Yes, time is a bitch, isn't it? I'm going to watch it after H5-0, which airs at 9 p.m. here, so when it's over it'll be bedtime and I can digest what I just saw before I go to sleep. Who knows, maybe that'll lead to dreaming up some fic!

So, have you seen it yet?

Revolution is okay. I wish it was a show about Miles, Maggie and Aaron on a quest to find the obviously not dead Elizabeth Mitchell and defeat Giancarlo Esposito. That would be a GREAT show. Instead we have the focus on overly stylish petulant teens who can't act. I will give it until Thanksgiving to address this balance between the main girl and the more interesting characters/better actors. I remember Lost started off feeling like all Jack all the time but started spreading the love after a few eps.

But if you are actually looking to recapture all the best parts of what being a Lost fan was about, check out Last Resort. It doesn't immediately seem like the kind of thing our flists would like, but by the end of the pilot it is clear. It is a good replacement solely because it isn't trying to be a replacement the was Flashforward, The event Nd now Revolution were trying.

*Word* on the overly-stylish petulant teens. And yet, having raised two of the varmits, I know that teens are always petulant and would move heaven and earth to be stylish, even if the earth was decimated. I just wonder where Danny got the electricity for his blow dryer and Charlie got her hot rollers.

I think it's a good idea to give it 'til Thanksgiving; that'll give it time to find its feet and its rhythm if it's ever going to. I'll probably do the same thing.

Have they aired the pilot of Last Resort? I thought it didn't come out until Thursday. I'm definitely planning to watch it!

I tried to watch it but it's nowhere to be found available for me in the UK. As there's a hulu and an nbc stream available everyone seems to be linked to those two and neither is available for me to watch in the UK!!!

Ah, you answered my question then. Sorry, I was answering my email in chronilogical order!

I'm so sorry you can't find it! If I knew how to burn copies of it for you I would. If I can work that out, would you like for me to send you the first few eps, just to see if you enjoy it enough to keep watching?

No, you're not the only one. But yeah, I'm not sure it's going to draw me in either yet. Not because of Hawaii 5-0 - I gave up on that a long time ago - but because I like to reserve judgment on shows until I know they're going to make it to season 2 these days. It makes saying goodbye to prematurely cancelled shows a lot less frustrating.

H5-0 is my junk food show - I don't watch it for substance but for style. ;) As for withholding judgment on shows, I took a leap of faith on Revolution simply because it was JJ (even tho I wanted to kill him for getting me addicted to Lost PLENTY of times) and because I just can't resist that type of show. Case in point, last year's The River. It was very flawed but it had SO MUCH POTENTIAL that it broke my heart when they didn't renew it. Especially since it ended on a creepy and very suspenseful note and could have made a few adjustments and come back strong...now I'm relegated to dreaming up my own episodes. Oh well, at least that gives me something to do while I'm trying to fall asleep at night.

I totally understand your caution. I think we'll be able to tell if Revolution will make it or not in the next few weeks. I'm kind of rooting for it, even with its frustrating aspects. Damn you JJ, don't do this to me again!

I'm not a fan of the 10PM timeslot (the reason I did not watch Hawaii 5-0, incidentally), but until they cancel it, or I see if this is a sustainable concept, I'm game. It's got one of those premises that seem like it would have been better suited for a mini-series, or just a single-season deal. Curious about how they'll make it last more than 2 years, honestly.
