I was riding the recumbent bike at the gym yesterday, and all the other tv's were showing boring news or morning shows (and I didn't want to keep seeing the Pike Shame Story), so I went to the one that was playing SPN, and I have a confession to make to my flist:

I LIKED IT.

I know, I'm the world's longest holdout, probably mostly because my Dish Network doesn't carry that network. But the show I watched was all about angels and demons and had an apocalyptic element, which y'all know I'm addicted to, and I was so drawn in I exceeded the 30-minute limit we're allowed to be on the aerobic machines. I don't know the name of the ep, but,

Sam to Dean: "No gambling, no drinking, no premarital sex? They just outlawed 90% of your personality!"

Sam to Some Guy: "Are you DRUNK?"

Some Guy: "Yeah. I found a liquor store."

Sam: "And?"

Some Guy: "And I drank it."

I didn't see the end but hubby told me that they killed Leah, the false prophet who turned out to be a demon. GOOD. I knew she was bad news.

So, do any of the networks like G4 do SPN marathon days for SPN like they do for Lost?

Obviously can't help you with networks-but all seasons of SPN are out on DVDs and Netflix has them all. And I'm glad you like the show-SPN really is made of angst and awesome!Unfortunately I broke up with that fandom a few years ago,but never stopped loving the Winchesters.And Bobby,gotta love Bobby!

Yay, I have Netflix! And conveniently, TNT airs episodes at the very same time I'm at the gym, so I'll get to see parts of them there 3 times a week!

I am scared of the fandom. I used to go over there just to watch when the nuclear explosions happened...kinda like how you can't look away from a car wreck. Man. We had our problems in the Lost fandom, but they made us look like pussycats. Kinda makes me feel warm 'n fuzzy about US! ♥

You know,I've been in many fandoms over the years and saw enough nutjobs and meltdowns to last me a lifetime and 99% of them-was in SPN fandom.I left because I was exhausted and couldn't stand the negativity and crazy and DRAMAS anymore-and I was just a bystander,kept low profile and was never involved in anything.SPN is still a great show,though.

That "some guy" is Castiel. And while I didn't care for the recent seasons (I stopped watching in season 5), I love him. The episode you watched is 5x17 99 problems.

The network that runs the repeats is TNT. They run two episodes a day at 9 and 10 am. I am not aware of any marathons they might do, but maybe for holidays or something? I know the ratings they get for the episodes are really good.

If you start watching from the beginning, beware that the start of the first season is not very good. I almost gave up when I saw the episode "Bugs" which was just god-awful. The episode after that, Home, is where the show starts to get really good. My favorite seasons were the second half of season 1 through season 3. The apocalypse storyline didn't start really until season 4. (There were hints and foreshadowing of it in the previous seasons.)

Yes, TNT is where I'm watching the eps at the gym. But I'm only getting bits and pieces there, since I can only watch for 20 minutes and they're showing eps from later seasons. I'm going to fire up my Netflix and watch from the beginning, even though I concur that the first few episodes were godawful. I gave it a chance back before we got the Dish Network (that doesn't carry its channel) but I hated it because the colors were drab and the first three eps didn't draw me in, plus I was WAY too obsessed with Lost to give a tinker's damn about another show, lol. This year I seem to be a fandom whore, though - flitting from show to show and slashing all over the place - and Castiel is the reason that SPN finally made my list. Must've been fate that I saw 99 problems!

Hmmm...I'm gonna run off now and grab an SPN icon from somewhere. Any ideas where I could find a good one? ;D

Yes, Castiel got me. I'm in, after all this time, believe it or not! :) And I've already started what will be a looooooooong process of catching up!

I believe you. Both about the potential greatness of the show, and the batshit fandom. I'm ready to dive into watching the show from the beginning, but I will stick to my (mostly) sane flist when I do my fangirling! ;)

"Some guy" is Castiel (an angel), I'm pretty sure. I remember the ep.

We're about to start S8 - I can't believe I've been watching that show so long. It's a record for me and I still love it. A number of people I know on line fell out of love with it at some point, but I still think it's great. I wish I could have held on to my Lost love the way I have my SPN love.

Castiel was the one who grabbed me, despite all of elise_509's efforts to convince me to watch because Dean is SO my type. I knew she was right but something held me back, til now. But YAY, I'm so glad you're still IN so I'll have someone to talk to once I catch up! ♥ I rarely give up on a show once I've committed myself to it (see: Lost); perhaps I'm a glutton for punishment, or maybe I have a trainwreck mentality, or maybe I'm just a Curiosity Cat and can't stand not to see how things turn out. I've mostly kept my issues with Lost to myself and managed to keep a "glass (BARELY) half-full" attitude about it. Bottom line, I am still in love with Sawyer. And I have 6 more fics left to finish my ff100 Sawyer challenge, so I guess that's a good thing!

Alas I started out loving it, starting to not like it in S2 and stopped three eps into S3, but I think it's a different show from that point. My advice would be to steer clear of the fandom though... :)
