Lost 4.02 (spoilers, of course)

I like the new people. Y'all are gonna skin me alive, aren't you? Should I hide under the bed?
Okay, first impressions:
Daniel: He's awfully cute in a nervous-academic-type way. He reminds me of my next-door neighbor, who's a sweetheart. He (Dan, not the n.d.n., is a terrible liar, though. "Noooooo, that didn't come from our...er, yes it did, eep." Lol.)
Miles: He's a badass and I like badasses, especially when they combine it with snark. Okay, his being a ghostbuster has the potential for future cheez, but for now, he's got my attention.
Charlotte: She's a fanatic of some type. Could be good, could be bad. She's a typical Lost noob, I guess.
The pilot...uh, Frank? What was his name, y'all?: I like him a lot. Jimmy Buffett comes to Craphole Island, eeeeeeeee!!! Now, as long as he doesn't go 'round singing "Why don't we get drunk and screw" where Sawyer and Kate can hear it, he gets to be my new BFF. ;)
I think I need to start a new feature in my reviews called "similarities and repetitions", because you just can't shake a Jesus stick on Lost without hitting one. Okay, maybe we've never had a "Miles" before (have we?), but all the other names are repeats. And resemblances -- I might be reaching for a couple of these -- Dan could pass for Charlie's older brother. Not Liam. Another, geekier older brother. Charlotte and Miles, eh, possibly Claire and Jin; I'd never have seen any connection there if it weren't for, OMG, the pilot (dammit, I'm trying to get this posted before I re-watch, what IS his name???). Close your eyes and listen to his voice. He's LOCKE! Or he's Locke's ventriloquist's dummy or something. I wanna shave him and see if they look alike under the facial hair.
So, the verdict: As long as the new people don't take time away from my old people *clings*, they can stay awhile. Y'know, until the smoke monster gets them or I decide they're evil.
Tomorrow I'll ramble about who-all got pwned. *cough*kate*cough*

Date: 2008-02-08 10:54 pm (UTC)I think, in the long run, Locke's gonna be too interested in kissing the island's butt to serve as any kind of leader. I guess kinda in the same way as Ben -- though Ben's interests seem to be more self-serving than island-serving -- people will revolt against Locke as a leader if they realize that he'll sacrifice them in a heartbeat if the island (or Walt or Jacob or whoever the dead-dictator-of-the-day is) tells him to. Sawyer, at least, only kills bad guys and hasn't gone 'round the bend talking to ghosties and the sky. And he won't. In this leadership-race, I think Sawyer gets my vote! :)
